  • Soren Raske, born Soren Erikson and designated Soren-066 for the Spartan-II Program, was one of the seventy-five physically and mentally exceptional children selected by Dr. Catherine Halsey to be trained as super-soldiers. Though he successfully completed the indoctrination phase, he "washed out" of augmentation, as the dangerous procedures caused his body to become so deformed he was unsuitable for MJOLNIR armor. He was relegated to a desk job following recovery, and fell prey to the urgings of an Insurrectionist mole within the ONI; this culminated in an escape attempt which ended badly, as the two tried to steal a Longsword but ended up crashing in a forest. Soren survived the crash, albeit with injuries, and though he managed to evade the ONI teams sent to find him, he would have perished if not for the efforts of Sofia Marin, who led him to a rebel settlement that existed off the grid. He would remain there for several years until Sofia decided to seek her fortune elsewhere, and he followed, feeling indebted to her. He and Sofia eventually became prominent members of the Sojourn Project, which created a safe haven for humans beyond the UNSC's control by resettling the partially-glassed colony of Dwarka, Soren's homeworld. Sojourn was destroyed in 2552 after Jorge-052 unintentionally alerted the Covenant to its presence with a Forerunner artifact, and though Soren survived, he became obsessed with revenge on the UNSC for ruining every aspect of his life. Soren founded the Jormundgand militant group and spent decades building it to the point where a decisive attack on a UNSC was feasible. By the end of the 26th century, he had acquired a NOVA bomb and attempted to use it on the planet Reach to destroy the UNSC's most famous symbol of recovery from the Human-Covenant War, but was stopped by the combined efforts of the UNSC's defense force and a group of mercenaries. Soren died after sustaining mortal wounds in combat, and would be remembered as both a traitor and a victim of the Spartan-II Program's unethical means.
