  • The Nightcaster staff is the most powerful staff in RuneScape and part os the Nightcaster equipment. It is obtained by finding the Nightstone logs and fletching them (with 99 Fletching, 82 Magic and 60 Runecrafting) then you will need a valour stone which can be found in a barrows chest (always inside). The staff can be used as a powerful melee weapon also because of it's high strength bonus of +81, and the staff has 10,000 casts of its own 2 spells, Night Strike and Nightcaster.

On the right is the Nightcaster staff concept art, the staff will be released on August 14th 2012 and will be available to all players (non-members) after 2nd September 2012. To get it on non-member worlds you will need 99 Magic to claim it from Davon Marocko in Varrock centre for 5,000,000 coins. It will be called Nightcaster Davon Staff (non-members that dosn't require 99 Fletching or 60 Runecrafting). During the new Grandmaster quest released on 31st July 2012: Tundra's of Darkness, Boss Archieve wields a Nightcaster staff as he defeats the two Tundra's, Draivan and Sceptre. This staff once belonged to the curser of the Barrows brothers, Archieve. A powerful wizard who once ruled Mort'ton when it was inhabited with people and big castles, when the war of the tundra happened it left Mort'ton dead, which then Archieve cursed the brothers that had fallen in battle, the curse saved there lives but then it imprisoned them to a life of guarding the master chest. When fighting quest bosses the staff will glow and give 10% extra damage, this can be useful when fighting bosses like Nomad. When fighting creatures in the Mort Myre Swamp (vampyres, ghasts, snails, ect) the staff will give 25% extra damage. When using the Staff against Barrows Brothers, when they die they have a 2% chance of dropping a barrows item. When a player opens the Barrows reward chest while wearing a full set of Nightcaster equipment it will have a 0.5% chance of having three times as much loot as a normal chest would. This makes Nightcaster the best set to have. There is soon a melee version and range of this type, but they will be called Draivan and Sceptre sets (Draivan melee and Sceptre range). These will be available in different places like Yanille and the Elf Camp. In order to make this item, two Valour stones and one Nightstone logs are needed. First, fletch the Nightstone logs into a Nightstone base. Then go to the altar next to the Nightcaster and use the base and valour stones on it. Attach the Valour stones and Nightcaster stones by touching them to the Nightcaster rune stone, and enlighten it by right-clicking enlighten to create a Nightcaster staff. Skill requirements of 84 Magic (99 if non-member), 60 Runecrafting (member) and 99 Fletching (member) are required when the staff is made.
