  • Manufacturing is an Industrial technology field. Most technologies within the field improve industrial efficiency and decrease cost and time requirements for production.
  • Manufacturing is the use of machines, tools and labor to make things for use or sale. The term may refer to a range of human activity, from handicraft to high tech, but is most commonly applied to industrial production, in which raw materials are transformed into finished goods on a large scale. Such finished goods may be used for manufacturing other, more complex products, such as household appliances or automobiles, or sold to wholesalers, who in turn sell them to retailers, who then sell them to end users - the "consumers".
  • You can use a factory to manufacture crates of identical items from a Manufacturing Schematic. These items may be for sale or to be used to create other items; some schematics require items created in the same factory run (identical serial numbers). A common mistake is to make a schematic with one resource you have on hand, and then try to run it through the factory with another resource. They have to be exactly the same, down to the specific name. The same applies for subcomponents; the serial numbers must be exactly the same.
  • For manufacturing a level in Woodcutting is required. When you have at least 1 Life Skill Point, you can learn Manufacturing. The Life skill book Manufacturing can be bought from the Grocer.
  • Governor Rendell announced that the Spanish wind-energy company Gamesa Corp. will base its manufacturing facility for wind turbine generator blades in Ebensburg, Cambria County. The opening of the plant will create as many as 500 construction and operations jobs, including 236 permanent high-paying manufacturing positions. How is it that Ebensberg is beating Pittsburgh for these jobs?

Such finished goods may be used for manufacturing other, more complex products, such as aircraft, household appliances or automobiles, or sold to wholesalers, who in turn sell them to retailers, who then sell them to end users – the "consumers". Manufacturing takes turns under all types of economic systems. In a free market economy, manufacturing is usually directed toward the mass production of products for sale to consumers at a profit. In a collectivist economy, manufacturing is more frequently directed by the state to supply a centrally planned economy. In free market economies, manufacturing occurs under some degree of government regulation. Modern manufacturing includes all intermediate processes required for the production and integration of a product's components. Some industries, such as semiconductor and steel manufacturers use the term fabrication instead. The manufacturing sector is closely connected with engineering and industrial design. Examples of major manufacturers in North America include General Motors Corporation, General Electric, and Pfizer. Examples in Europe include Volkswagen Group, Siemens, and Michelin. Examples in Asia include Toyota, Samsung, and Bridgestone.

With this item you have the possibility to make even more tools. (see also the overviews below) Most handy in the beginning is the Kitchen Range, where you can cook Consumables into more potent consumables, such as Rice (+20HP) to White Rice (+100HP). Wood / Firewood needed for recipes can be made with the Stone Knife. After the Kitchen range it is most handy to create the Storeroom, which can hold up to 50 items.
