abstract
  • Sharon Leontiou was elected to Parliament in August 2950 by a huge majority 2,649 votes representing the constituency of Fangfield. Elected at the age of 32, Leontiou was considered by Baltusian President Kathleen Iberia-Lafayette as one of the sexiest, strongest, and most intelligent women ever to grace the halls of this Parliament. Following the resignation of Iberia-Lafayette, Leontiou stood for the leadership of the Social Democrats. She received 18 nominations in her bid. Most pundits were surprised that she was able to garner enough support to get onto the ballot. Leontiou came in third place on the first ballot and quickly received the endorsement of Prime Minister Joia St. Etienne. With the Prime Minister's endorsement, Leontiou was able to get her bid to the party membership vote. She won 23% of the vote, much higher than previously expected. She moved her support to Tim Donnelly who was narrowly defeated by Paul Chambers. After Chambers resigned, Ariana Croizer became General Secretary of the party. Following Croizer's resignation, Leontiou defeated Tim Donnelly to become interim General Secretary of the Social Democrats. Her election was considered a major surprise. She defeated Donnelly by three votes. Leontiou's leadership was uneventful. She mainly oversaw the election of Hilda Glass as General Secretary. Leontiou was perceived as a popular and strong leader for the party, however, she was shockingly defeated in her bid for reelection to Parliament by a mere 81 votes. Following her defeat, she returned to her career as a journalist. She was often mentioned as a potential candidate for the position of Governor General or Queen of Baltusia. However, Parliament was unable to pass a bill creating the offices in her lifetime.
