He was also joined and helped by a spiritual aware human, also known as a Fullbringer, named Lucy Highwind. Unlike other Arrancar, his power also underwent a change, to which was thought to be impossible and is the first to do so in the Arrancar history. He is noticeably the common enemy and rival of Tōshirō Hitsugaya, as he once fought him before as a Hollow back then, and once more fought him as an Arrancar during the Fake Karakura War.
