abstract
  • Spell Merchants are people of various classes who offer ready-made spells for sale. They are willing to teach a customer any spell they know in exchange for gold, regardless of the customer's skill level. Although the selection of spells offered by a Spell Merchant generally corresponds to their proficiency in magical skills, this is not always the case. In order to create custom spells (using the services of a Spellmaker), the Nerevarine must first purchase a spell containing the desired magical effect from a Spell Merchant. Although most effects can be acquired from multiple sources, some effects are only available from only one merchant. These are listed below. Spell Merchants tend to have a low Mercantile skill, often less than fifteen points, and most frequently ten points. As with all financial transactions in Morrowind, the merchant's Mercantile skill and Disposition towards the Nerevarine are important factors in negotiating a purchase price. The Nerevarine's Mercantile skill, Luck, and Fatigue also affects bargaining with merchants.
