Alongside his younger brother, he was educated in diplomacy, etiquette and oration, and also demonstrated a healthy interest in sword-play. Although he is not without humor, it is clear that of the two Demici brothers Renato inherited his fathers stalwart disposition, which has in turn given him a great sense of determination and maturity beyond his years. At the age of twenty, Renato was diagnosed with the lethal Knowt's Disease and given an estimated seven years to live. Though urged by those around him to live out the rest of his life in luxury, spending his inheritance on travelling and indulging in the pleasures the galaxy had to offer, the young Count's conscience could not abide such a decision. Instead, he made the decision to travel to Yavin 8 where he would pledge himself as a servant of the Force, so that he might spend the rest of his life embodying this selfless proclamation by the once venerable Count Dooku: "The Counts of Serenno do not complain or cry. We are born to take care of others."Cybernetics
In order to cope with, and the slow the progression of, the affliction he carries, Renato has replaced some parts of his body with biomechanical replacements.
