He played with the Montreal Maroons and Toronto Maple Leafs. He was born in Toronto, Ontario. He played senior hockey with teams in Iroquois Falls and Fort William. The Montreal Maroons signed him as a free agent in 1928. However, he only played in one game for them and then was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1929. There, too, McBride lasted only one game. He played until 1938 in the minor pros.
