  • Sir Augustus Charles Scovell (1840-28 May 1924) He was the third son of George Scovell, a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant of Middlesex and his wife Georgina née Biggs of Northumberland. Educated at Harrow School and Christ Church, Oxford, graduating in 1862. Scovell was active in public and civic work in London. He was a magistrate for the County of London, a poor law guardian and a member of the Metropolitan Asylums Board, holding the office of chairman of the board from 1904-07. He was knighted on his retirement for his service to the board.
