Deputies in the stations security pursued him and in a desperate attempt to escape he jumped over the railings, and fell to his death. (DS9 novel: Avatar, Book One) To Gamon's misfortune his sacrifice was insufficient to keep the prophecies out of the public domain. Before he had arrived on the station Istani had already hidden the book elsewhere on the station. In the course of the ensuing murder investigation it was found by Ro Laren and later uploaded by Kira Nerys onto the Bajoran comnet in an act of defiance against the Vedek Assembly's censorship and sanctioned murder of Istani.
