  • Snoopy and Woodstock's relationship
rdfs:comment
  • Woodstock first appeared when a mother bird built a nest on Snoopy's stomach. There were two birds in it, but the mother never came back, leaving Snoopy the responsibility of raising them himself. At first Snoopy did not want to raise them. One day he got so fed up with the two birds that he threw them out into the world. Snoopy's first thought was that he was glad to be unburdened of the responsibility. Then he became upset when one of the two birds returned. Snoopy decided to raise that one, and he became very close to it. Snoopy taught the bird how to do many things, including how to fly, although that was not very successful. That bird grew up to be Woodstock.

In Woodstock's early years (before he was even named) Snoopy often seemed very annoyed at him. Snoopy often called Woodstock a "stupid bird" and hated his poor flying skills. As the years went on, Snoopy became much better friends with Woodstock, who eventually became Snoopy's sidekick. Woodstock appeared in many of Snoopy's fantasies, and together they became a formidable team. Snoopy even came to like Woodstock's topsy-turvy flying. Snoopy eventually liked Woodstock so much, he was able to understand Woodstock's speech, which the reader sees as ! and ?. Snoopy has even done many crazy things for Woodstock. He helped Woodstock when Woodstock said he saw a strange creature in his nest, (It turned out to be an egg), and he saved Woodstock, from what he thought was the cat next door (It turned out to be a yellow glove). Snoopy has even walked Woodstock south for the winter.
