  • Since its founding it has remained loyal to its socialist roots though it as toned down its extreme views on socialism. It has also abandoned its militarism stance. It was one of the first parties along with the Democratic Reform Party to support the introduction of the welfare state and many other services which were lacking for many years. It is still a extremely anti monarchist and colonialist party. The party gained speed late 70's and by mid 1985 was the second largest party in parliament behind the conservatives. In 1992 it successfully won its first election under the leadership of Stanley Williams. However it soon collapsed again after the failure of Walliams and was on the brink of collapse in 2005 until a new enthusiastic member, Douglas H. Smith took control and reformed the party. Over a process of 15 years it soon regained its momentum and was reelected in 2019 for the first time in 22 years. The party mainly gathers its support from working class and lower middle class families and rural cities, towns and villages. It is normally seen as the opposite of the National Conservatives and a ally of the Labour Party.
