Ant Lion is the 22nd advanced floor of Super Monkey Ball, Ant Lion (あり地獄 Arijigoku) is an enemy that has a nest in the deepest part of quicksand pits; they will come out to get Arthur if he gets close enough to the bottom. Unlike most monsters in the game, Ant Lions are simply invincible: Arthur cannot eliminate them in any way, even with his most powerful weapons. Being the young form of Ogre Mayflies, these creatures will always be flying near their sand pits. The ant lion first appeared in the original first edition Monster Manual II (1983). The giant ant lion appeared in second edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons in the The giant ant lion appeared in the Monstrous Compendium Volume Two (1989), and is reprinted in the Monstrous Manual (1993). The giant ant lion appeared in the third edition in Sandstorm: Mastering the Perils of Fire and Sand (2005). These monsters stay hidden underground until you or one of your pets approach them (look out for lone Bone Piles). Still, they usually appear in groups of only two creatures and, despite their more or less impressive appearance, they are moderate melee fighters. Ant Lions can drop the Vile Ichor monster charm.
