The Duck Avenger in American comics (also known as Paperinik, Phantomias, Superduck, PK, Super Donald and Phantom Duck), is a comic book superhero who is Donald Duck's alter ego. Donald originally created his superheroic identity as a means of secretly seeking revenge against relatives such as Scrooge McDuck and Gladstone Gander, but soon found himself fighting other menaces. The character is an Italian invention and, though dominant in stories in which he appears, is very much absent from all others not starring him. Duck Avenger is a character born from an idea of Elisa Penna, the then chief editor of Mickey and developed by the author Guido Martina and drawn for the first time by Giovan Battista Carpi. The idea of creating a secret identity for the unlucky Donald, came to Pen reading negative heroes in tights at the time the comic black Italian was experiencing, as Diabolik, Satanik or Kriminal. In the wake of this program, the preparation of Mickey Mouse was determined to create a parody of the famous Diabolik, accentuating as possible tones comedians and funny character.
