The Highlands of Rhudaur comprised an area of large hills, some rising to over fifteen-hundred feet above their bases.The hills , which ran in irregular curved lines from the southwest to the northeast, were classic fells; that was, they were relatively "young " hills, created by the violent uplifting of the Misty Mountains in the deeps of time.They were jagged and little weathered , holding very little topsoil.These features were particularly true of the northernmost hills, the Ettenmoors, also known by the translation of their Hillmen name, the "Granite Sea".The name did not derive from the many hills, but from the landscape itself, which was strewn with boulders and outcrops of granite.The rocks ranged in size from that of a child's ball to that of a large villa, and they were often gro The Ettenmoors are a biome in Middle-earth far to the north. They are bordered to the north by a stretch of the Misty Mountains as well as Angmar, to the west by the Lone-lands, to the east by the Misty Mountains, and to the south by the Coldfells. It is a biome with a similar climate and flora as the taiga. The landscape is dominated by rolling hills, scattered boulders and evergreen trees. Troll hoards and ruined towers hold treasure for the adventurous. But beware, as the Ettenmoors are frequently invaded by forces of Angmar, Gundabad and the Rangers of the North. The Ettenmoors can be located north of Rivendell. This rugged land serves as the portal to the savage regions of northern Middle-earth. The Ettenmoors are a very beautiful land, but also a very dangerous lands. The caves are filled with Orcs and the ridges are filled with Goblins. Only the bravest of souls and travelers dare to venture through these lands. However, while both the Goblins and Orcs are terrifying, there is a far larger threat amongst these lands. Many Trolls can be found throughout these lands. The dark forces desperately want to control and use these Trolls for their benefit. The Ettenmoors, also known as the Troll-fells, were a highland region of Eriador which was west of the Misty Mountains, located north of the Coldfells and Rivendell and southeast of Mount Gram. The land was wild, untamed, misty, and sinister, and many evil creatures dwelt there. It was also the home of the trolls in The Hobbit: Tom, Bert and William.

The Ettenmoors are a very beautiful land, but also a very dangerous lands. The caves are filled with Orcs and the ridges are filled with Goblins. The day is ruled by the savage hillmen of the Rhudaur, who seem to be capable of not only surviving in this harsh realm, but also to coexist with the rulers of the night. Animals are less abundant and anything fluffy or cuddly seems to have left the area. The remaining elks and wolves benefit from lack of competition. At night, more sinister creatures rule. As soon as the thin sun sets, orcs, wargs, trolls, and Hill-trolls take over. Troll hoards and ruined towers hold treasure for the adventurous. But beware, as the Ettenmoors are frequently invaded by forces of Angmar, Gundabad and the Rangers of the North. Upon entering this biome, the player earns the achievement "The Troll-fells". The Ettenmoors, also known as the Troll-fells, were a highland region of Eriador which was west of the Misty Mountains, located north of the Coldfells and Rivendell and southeast of Mount Gram. The land was wild, untamed, misty, and sinister, and many evil creatures dwelt there. It was also the home of the trolls in The Hobbit: Tom, Bert and William.
