Beliefs: Unlike other Shapers in the Council, Astoria wishes to be on good terms with the rebels which is best illistrated by the fact that she allows rebels on her lands. Also, unlike the other Council Members, she believes that the Members should be active in their part as a leader. She believes that the leaders themselves should help when something wrong happens instead of sitting in a chair and ordering people. This is the reason why she helps the protagonist (if you are a Shaper) when the protagonist tries to destroy Ghaldring. Astoria is a small-one block street in East Holland, Algonquin. It begins at Vauxite Street and ends at Vespucci Circus. Astoria is in relative terms a extreme unitary state, giving the government in Elysium extreme guidance over its dominions and sectors. Built around the basis of the Constitution of Astoria, the government is held responsible like that of any other republic, but in regards to the way the constitution can change is seen as much more on the lines of a direct democracy. Astoria has a combined judicial and executive branch, with one council member of the Directorate acting as the Chief Justice of Astoria, the de facto leader of the state. The Directorate is elected every four years with each of its nine members up for re-election, with the Chief Justice not having to run for re-election. Several positions are delegated to each of the ten members, whom also act like that of the senate for the nation. Conceived within the minds of the settlers of Astoria, Oregon in 1814 after a letter from Thomas Jefferson whom described Fort Astoria as "the germ of a great, free, and independent empire on that side of our continent, and that liberty and self-government spreading from that as well as from this side, will insure their complete establishment over the whole." John Quincy Adams also regarded the Oregon territory as a potential pacific empire. In the 1840's sentiment to this pacific empire became sour among Washington, D.C and crushed the idea of a peaceful pacific empire. In 1851 several British and American pioneers joined in Astoria to sign the National Charter of Astoria, which proclaimed a independent republic free from British and American control. This caused a hasty response by Union troops, whom engaged in several skirmishes known as the American-Astorian War. With heavy concentration on the Civil War with Dixie the pioneers were able to hold key mountain passes and engage in extremely guerrilla like warfare against the giant to the east, it wasn't until the year of September 1863 that Astoria was granted independence from the United States with heavy pressure from Albion-Gaul and the Confederate States. After the Civil War had ended, Astoria was seen as the gem of North America a true bastion of freedom for the common man, most of whom were angered by Abraham Lincoln's failed war and journeyed west to settle in the new frontier. Slavery was formally outlawed during the signing of the National Charter and people of African decedent were refused entry on grounds of racial purity of the state. Universal suffrage was enacted during the signing and allowed women to hold key positions in the government. Population growth skyrocketed with central planning of cities and communities, the government lead state-funded geological expeditions for corporations to incite business growth and demanded ecological responsibility for the benefit of the community. Astorian nationalism and culture developed after its independence and became a magnet nation for those whom appealed to freethought, deism and Masonic tradition. Several universities developed during the first wave of immigrants began settling in the masses, the most prominent being the University of Astoria, a educational arm for the Astorian Rite of Freemasonry. Astoria's first Chief Justice and leader was the founder of the Astorian Rite, Alexander Sorrow and was instrumental in the founding of the states government and culture. During the second migration in the 1890's the first generation settlers rejected incoming religious immigrants from Sierra and East Asians, it wasn't until 1910 that racial and religious tensions died down. Within the dominions, most are regarded in the three economic categories, coastal cities which house large amounts of service industry and high-tech manufacturing, while to the interior has a more agriculturally dominant economy, to the west the dominions become more dependent upon a resource economy. While overall the economy is heavily developed, the nations economy has become more dominant on gradual growth and sustaining the ecosystem, it rejects the common boom-bust cycle and will typically pull itself out of economic agreements if seen as detrimental to its local economy. While its protectionist government has loosened its grip, several safety guidelines are still enacted. It does have some economic agreements with other North American nations such as the Confederate States of Dixe and the Kingdom of Sierra but has overall rejected trade with East Asia, with the exception of Japan, Korea, South Vietnam, and the Empire of Akitsu Astoria ist die Hauptstadt Durewas. .Die stadt wurde 1965 von Marie Karen deGroot gegründet. He eventually found success at the Regency. Astoria is the wife of Waldorf who appeared just once on The Muppet Show, in episode 413. __TOC__ Her physical appearance resembles that of Statler in drag, and she wears a single flower in her hat. Kermit declared that Astoria is just as bad as the two old geezers who frequent the show; Waldorf corrected the frog, stating that his spouse is a "geezeress," only to be hit in the head by her for making such a comment. When Statler was sick (of the Muppets' show), Astoria uses his ticket to attend the show with her husband. The couple visit The Muppet Theatre to see the stage show with the Muppets' guest star Dizzy Gillespie. Upon seeing the opening act, Astoria asks Waldorf how much the Muppets pay him, because who could imagine a "poor stupid turkey" going to the show for nothing. To this, Waldorf sheepishly replies "gobble gobble." Later on, Astoria helps Waldorf heckle Fozzie Bear during his comedy act by shouting out the punchlines to Fozzie's jokes before he can finish them in an attempt to rush the comedian off the stage. Astoria often wonders why her husband keeps coming to this "irritating, mindless, incessant nonsense" while he could stay home with her. The only answer from Waldorf was "no comment." She's later referenced in episode 420 when Waldorf claims that she consumes a whole glass of Jekyll-Hyde potion every morning. In the Ask Henson.com web column in the early 2000s, Muppet writer Jim Lewis was asked to provide information on Astoria. “Astoria was married to Waldorf some time ago. We were unable to reach Astoria for more details, and Waldorf cannot remember anything past last Tuesday, for which he is eternally grateful.” Based on off-hand comments made by Waldorf in more recent years—including in Pepe's Profiles (2005), Statler & Waldorf: From the Balcony (2006), and an appearance on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (2010), it appears that Waldorf and Astoria are no longer married. Although it is not clear if this is due to divorce or death (or if the comments are just the results of Waldorf's wishful thinking or poor memory). In the "20 Facts About The Muppets" video for Mental Floss, Statler and Waldorf speak about the hotels they are named after, Waldorf specifically mentioning that he and Astoria were named after the the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. Waldorf observes that she does not appear with the Muppets so much. Says Statler: "Can you blame her?" During a Twitter Q&A on September 29, 2015, Waldorf was asked how Astoria is. He replied. "She's never been better!" Statler added, "Yeah, 'cause you're out of the house!" [1] Beliefs: Unlike other Shapers in the Council, Astoria wishes to be on good terms with the rebels which is best illistrated by the fact that she allows rebels on her lands. Relationships: Alwan: Alwan seems to view her with great distaste. He strongly disagrees with her views and, unlike her, wishes that she would destroy the rebels. Rawal: Rawal wishes that all of the other Council members owe something to him so that he would remain in good reputation. This is why he asks the protagonist to look for the Shadow Road. Helping Out the Pro-Shaper Protagonist: If the protagonist chooses to be a pro-shaper and is given the mission to destroy Ghaldring, Astoria will help by giving the protagonist a stone which, when thrown at the doors to the west, would make the doors collapse and make sure that Ghaldring wouldn't run away. Alwan Ending: If the protagonist sided with Alwan, Astoria would never be able to rise to Head Council Member and would have people occasionally try to assasinate her. In the end though, she would be happy and never waver in her beliefs. Astoria was an upmarket region of New York City. It was here that Carmine Rosato and Tony Rosato's compound were located until their destruction and takeover in 1959.
