Rosmerta was the goddess of healing and prosperity who originated among the Celts in Gaul. Her worship eventually spread to the Rhineland, Luxembourg and Britain. Rosmerta, meaning "Great Provider", was often depicted, such as on the statue found in Paris (France) , holding a cornucopia and a basket of fruit. These symbols represented abundance, prosperity and good fortune in Celtic culture. Rosmerta was also thought to be a hater of marriage. The Celtic god Lugh (Ireland) was equated with the Roman god Mercury and his consort was the equivalent of Rosmerta. thumb|left|Madam Rosmerta & MInerva McGonagall & Cornelius Fudge im Drei Besen, HogsmeadeSie wurde von Draco Malfoy unter den Imperius-Fluch gesetzt und übergab Katie Bell das verfluchte Opalhalsband. Ron ei kumminkaan surenut asiaa sillä Lavender Brown astui kuvioihin. Matami Rosmerta on myös Dumbledoren pitkäaikainen ystävä. These symbols represented abundance, prosperity and good fortune in Celtic culture. Rosmerta was also thought to be a hater of marriage. A relief found at Eisenberg depicts Rosmerta holding a purse in her right hand, accompanied by the Roman god Mercury. The purse is a symbol of commercial success. A relief found in Luxembourg indicates she was associated with healing as there is an inscription relating to the opening of a hospital. The divine male consort of the goddess Rosmerta was either the Roman god Mars, the god of war, the Roman god Mercury, the god of sleep and dreams, or Esus. Esus was a god of Gaul, described by the Roman historian Lucan as a "barbarous Celtic god". The large number of artifacts that have been found in western Europe confirm not only the widespread worship of the goddess Rosmerta but also the fact that she was an important Celtic goddess. The harmonious relationship between the conquered Celts and the Romans is expressed in her numerous associations with the Roman god Mercury. The relief of Rosmerta and Mercury found in Paris and remains found in the West Country in England depict the goddess holding a patera, a ritual dish used in worship. Depictions of the goddess with the Roman god Mars have also been found in Andernach (Luxembourg) and Metz (France). The depictions of the goddess on her own, such as an inscription found at Alise-Sainte-Reine in the Cate d'Or, or with the Mercury in the form of wings of on her head, such as a bronze statue found in Fins d'Annency, signifies the importance of the goddess in Celtic society. The Celtic god Lugh (Ireland) was equated with the Roman god Mercury and his consort was the equivalent of Rosmerta.
