Later, while she disapproved of Deral's decision to leave the planet to be with Jadzia Dax, she then welcomed Dax when the Trill chose to stay with the Meridians instead. In 2371, when Meridian was shifted back into the regular universe and the crew of the USS Defiant made first contact with the inhabitants, Rakal invited the senior staff to dine with them at the First Meal. Later, Rakal had concerns when Deral started a relationship with Jadzia Dax, but welcomed Jadzia when she decided to remain on Meridian.
