Christmas Christmas CHRISTMAS Christmas
rdfs:comment
Christmas is a Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Christ. Many people enjoy making custom compilation CDs of music for the Christmas holiday, which has more songs written for or about it than any other. Jackie brings the gang to a high school Christmas dance in order for her to get back at the cheerleading squad for kicking her out. Eric, Hyde, Donna and Fez are treated as celebrities at the dance, while Kelso wants to spend the night with Brooke at the library. Meanwhile, Red works in the local mall as Santa Claus, but Bob wants the job, too. Virus.DOS.Christmas is a memory resident parasitic virus on DOS. This virus has 7 variants in 4 versions: * Virus.DOS.Christmas.600 * Virus.DOS.Christmas.868 * Virus.DOS.Christmas.1539 (A, B and C) * Virus.DOS.Christmas.1694 Just the thought that the previous occupant of this bed is a complete stranger was repulsive in my mind, but that’s beside the point. What I’m getting at is how this lack of sleep in hotels changed my life. Christmas, we were spending Christmas in a shitty hotel and not with family, great. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I didn’t enjoy the all you can eat buffet of soggy hash browns and grits for Christmas Eve dinner. That’s when it hit me, it’s Christmas, and I was about to let this bad fortune ruin my favorite holiday. Christmas (or X-mas) is a special map only available, as the name suggests, during Christmas time. It comes in 2 modes, Team Deathmatch Mode and Elimination Mode. Christmas is a holiday celebrated on Earth in the Sonic X Zone, Earth 20XX, and possibly on Mobius Prime during the period that it was reset by the second Genesis Wave. The most common tradition associated with Christmas is the idea that a fat, bearded man in a red suit named Santa Claus, who lives at a toy workshop in the North Pole, rides around the world on Christmas Eve to deliver gifts to children. Other traditions associated with Christmas include the erection and decoration of a Christmas tree. (SX: #15) Christmas was covered in episodes "Christmas at Plum Creek," and "A Christmas They Never Forgot." Among the secular traditions are eating Christmas food, giving each other presents, singing and dancing together, decorating a Christmas tree and baking. The Mirage Comics includes a stort called The Christmas Aliens, which was even adopted for the 2003 TMNT cartoon. Even What Goes Around... ...Comes Around! in the Mirage Comics begins on a Christmas Eve. In the 1987 TMNT cartoon, Krang says that he wants MACC seeing the robot on TV, and Rocksteady says he may get one by Santa Claus for Christmas. The full synopsis of this event is unknown. If you see an issue that involves Christmas but is not listed, add the template to the issue. Although a Christian holiday, Christmas is also widely celebrated by many non-Christians, and some of its popular celebratory customs have pre-Christian or secular themes and origins. Popular modern customs of the holiday include gift-giving, music, an exchange of greeting cards, church celebrations, a special meal, and the display of various decorations; including Christmas trees, lights, garlands, mistletoe, Nativity scenes, and holly. In addition, Father Christmas (known as Santa Claus in some areas, including North America, Australia and Ireland) is a popular folklore figure in many countries, associated with the bringing of gifts for children. Christmas is a primarily Christian holiday celebrated on 25 December in most countries (including the United Kingdom). The holiday ostensibly celebrates the birth of the Christian saviour, Jesus of Nazareth, though many in other religions or who possess a secular disposition nevertheless celebrate the holiday. The most famous tradition of Christmas is that Father Christmas flies around the world on a reindeer-pulled sleigh to deliver presents to all the good children of the world. It continued to be celebrated after the destruction of much of the Earth's populace. On one Christmas in 2014, the holiday took a dark turn as Khyron attacked New Macross City, leaving much of the city under fire, with many lives lost. Despite this, the citizens were still able to find room for the Christmas spirit, as many of them began to sing Silent Night as the SDF-1 was light-up with festive lights. (Macross Saga: Season's Greetings) Christmas is today! Yay! Wait, it isn't? Oh. Ahem. Christmas is the time that a load of annoyingly poorly written stories pop up in many fandoms on The Pit, most of which are an excuse to either get two characters kissing under the mistletoe and/or completely rip-roaring drunk, which often leads to other more adult activities, implied or not. That or everyone plays party games, and gets drunk out their minds. This applies whether the series is set in a place or time that would celebrate Christmas or not, as badfic writers don't care to actually research the customs of the country that the series is set in. Seriously, how hard is it to check Wikipedia for information on how Christmas is celebrated, or not, in other countries? In 2000 – while recording a personal journal entry on December 27 – Shannon O'Donnel noted that, while she wasn't looking forward to New Year's Eve, at least Christmas was over. Despite this, Alexandria Books was still decorated for that holiday, including a star and an ornament of a reindeer pulling a sleigh. (VOY: "11:59") In the Julian Bashir, Secret Agent holoprogram, Julian Bashir gave Anastasia Komananov a set of exploding earrings for Christmas of 1963. (DS9: "Our Man Bashir") Christian Festival that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Date was calculated by theologians based on a combination of astrology and sacred texts. By Divine Luck, this gave them the hatrick over the Pagans, as like Easter and All Saints this clashed with one of their major festivals. Maybe they *both* have it right after all....? Christmas is when Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus. It's unlikely he actually was born then and some Atheists doubt if Jesus existed at all. The guy in the red costume seems to have many different faces, we do not yet know how this is possible, but we are investigating it. These are the different faces we've been able to find so far. Christmas is a real-life holiday commonly celebrated every December 25th on Earth. Christmas is a running gag in Calvin and Hobbes. Whilst the holiday season is a joyous time of year for many people, in the lives of the Bundys it generally serves as a reminder of how firmly they sit in the ranks of the 'have nots'. Over the years, however, the Bundys (Al in particular) have experienced the occasional 'Christmas miracle' of their own, such as "It's a Bundyful Life". Al has a running feud with a number of Santas at the New Market Mall in particular, and has even physically attacked some from time to time. Al did try several Christmas-themed scams to supplement his own income. There will be a lady walking around Aeven with the Odd name of Christmas shop. She will sell you a Christmas for 2 gp. Christmas is celebrated on Neopets throughout the month of Celebrating (December) with the Advent Calendar. Do you like Christmas? Would you like your pet or petpet to have a Christmas style? Using a Christmas Paint Brush or Petpet Paint Brush, this is achievable! Christmas is a special TUGS episode. Written by TUGSfan66 Christmas is an annual festival across time and space: it's been known to occur on Mobius, the Special Zone, and at least one alien planet. It may also take place on Earth. The origins of Christmas have never been explained. On all planets, however, it's followed by a period of gentle snowfall. Traditionally, it is a time of being with friends and family, having good cheer, and doing good deeds. Notable customs are carol singing, Christmas feasts, and the giving of presents. Linked to Christmas is the powerful entity Father Christmas, sometimes named Santa Claus, who delivers presents to children across the entire universe. 'Day' 25 DECEMBER Christmas is a primarily Christian holiday celebrated on 25 December in most countries (including the United Kingdom). Students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry go on a few weeks' holidays for the Christmas season -- though some students (such as Harry Potter), choose to stay at Hogwarts. Harry generally liked to stay at Hogwarts, as the alternative was going back to the Dursley's. Christmas is often marked by a feast of some type. Eggnog is often served on or around Christmas-time. The Christmas meet of 2005 was a big success with even Danny turning up and helping the auction. Again, lots of money was raised for charity via an auction and donations. Also planned for this year. Well done to all! Christmas is a Holiday celebrated in the world of Gloriana. It is celebrated near the end of the year during the Winter season on the 25th day of twelth month. Christmas event eli joulutapahtuma on RuneScapeen jouluisin ilmestyvä tapahtuma, johon liittyy pienen tehtävän tekeminen. Palkinto on usein vaatteita tai jotain muuta hauskaa. Christmas is a holiday that occurs on December 25th. During this month many visual changes occur around Sherwood Castle including the Dragon statue being changed to a Christmas tree. Christmas is a holiday in Papa's Cheeseria 2. It is unlocked at Rank 21. Because gift-giving and many other aspects of the Christmas festival involve heightened economic activity among both Christians and non-Christians, the holiday has become a significant event and a key sales period for retailers and businesses. The economic impact of Christmas is a factor that has grown steadily over the past few centuries in many regions of the world. Christmas is an 2007 horror/mystery film. When an man is killed, suspects begin to arise. However, one of the suspects plans to kill everyone in order to keep the truth from everyone else. In the Christian faith, Christmas, alternatively spelled X-Mas, is an annual holiday celebrated on December 25th that marks and honors the birth of their savior. It is proceeded by Christmas Eve. In many places, it snows during the Christmas season giving rise to the idea of a white Christmas. Christmas is a holiday celebrated by humans and Smurfs alike, usually around the time of the Winter Solstice. It is said to have been founded on the belief that Jesus Christ, the center focus of Christianity, was born in December. It is most commonly observed by the act of creating and giving gifts to one another, as well as through festive singing and dancing and eating special foods that are only made around this time of year. It is considered a time of great charity for helping those who are less fortunate. * "Little Peter's Christmas" * "The Smurfs Christmas" * "Hibernatus Smurfimus" * "The Little Tree" * "Baby's First Christmas" * "The Magic Sack Of Mr. Nicholas" * "The Smurfs' Christmas Special" * "'Tis The Season To Be Smurfy" * The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol * "Christmas In Smurfland" by Father Abraham * Merry Christmas With The Smurfs * "Christmas Eve" * "The Angels" * "The Christmas Star" * "No Joy For Christmas" * "The Blow Of Santa Claus" Christmas was invented on December 25th 1962 by St Nick. A.K.A. Santa Claus in honour of his birthday. To celebrate his birthday, he flies around the world, breaking his back going down chimneys (arguably, he is convicted of also breaking into houses, and stealing things and/or makes love to pets), and giving away his stuff. He's a bit of an idiot, he does it every year. Maybe he has nothing better to do - I mean, I bet it gets boring sleeping and feeding all the time. On chips, cold of course, from Iceland. Christmas (25 December) is a holiday celebrated in most countries. It means, quite literally, "the festival of Christ". When Vernon and Petunia Dursley took Harry Potter, Dudley Dursley and Piers Polkiss to the zoo on 24 June, 1991, Vernon took Harry aside and warned him that if anything odd happened, Harry would be locked in his cupboard until Christmas. Christmas is today! Christmas is when Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus. It's unlikely he actually was born then and some Atheists doubt if Jesus existed at all. in more recent years it has been hijacked by big business who like to remind us that Christmas is coming from mid August onwards. Ironically many of the big businesses who infect Christmas with all the mass marketing hype are run by the same Neocons who always like to talk about how Christmas has lost all of its meaning, see Hypocrisy. Christmas is a holiday on December 25. Every year there are lots of Christmas celebrations in Webkinz World. There are also a couple exclusive Christmas Room themes, these include the Christmas is a combination of pointleses beliefs directed towards the false, wrong, faithful belief that Santa Claus could actually be real, even though it's friggin obvious that the parents put the presents under the tree instead of this so-called "Santa Claus" person, some made up guy. Christmas is celebrated with a tree, decorations outside and/or inside, pointless, meaningless Christmas carols, an expectation that Santa Claus will actually come to your house and give you either a lump of coal (sometimes Santa doesn't have coal so he uses weed instead) or the gift you wanted, according to the "Naughty or Nice" list that he supposedly has. Christmas is just ridiculous. How the fuck is that even possible? Christmas and the festive celebrations of the birth of Jesus Christ remains the foremost annual cultural festival in most parts of the western world, celebrated even by non-Christians, atheists and agnostics, even if it is not marked by such groups as a religious holiday in itself. Within the UK television industry Christmas, from the very start of the service beginning in the 1930s, was marked as a special season in the same way that it had been and continues to be within the radio, publishing and retail industries. Special high-quality and budget-generous programmes were devised with an accent either on religion or on comedy and variety entertainment. Regular programming, especially dramas, would either take a short break over the Christmas period or the festive season would become an integral part of the storyline and Emmerdale has been no exception in this respect. The holiday has always featured within the storylines although the nature in which has been treated has changed along with viewer tastes and habits in the years since 1972. Christmas is a traditional winter holiday that is mostly celebrated in the Pokémon world. Similar to the aspects of the holiday in real life, people mostly wait for Santa Claus to deliver gifts and goodwill to others, sing songs, and have gatherings. Christmas is one of the major Holidays on the Newgrounds Calendar. There is a main Collection for Christmas and separate Collections for each year since 1999. There are competitions every year with cash prizes for Flash submissions. Just the thought that the previous occupant of this bed is a complete stranger was repulsive in my mind, but that’s beside the point. Of course the first snow of the season had to cancel our flight down to Virginia. It was Christmas Eve and I was trying to sleep in this bleach saturated room; my mind was wandering, wondering what happened in here to cause such an excessive amount of bleach needed. The room was nothing out of the ordinary: two beds, one for my Dad and I and another for my sister and mom, a bathroom, and a stained microwave that looked in need of a good dusting. Somehow I escaped the room (and stench of bleach) into a dreamless sleep. Waking up, I could tell it was early morning, my dad was next to me snoring and he usually wakes up before 4 am. That’s when it hit me, it’s Christmas, and I was about to let this bad fortune ruin my favorite holiday. Looking across the bed at the clock to check the time is when I noticed it: The silhouette of a man about 6’3 across the room staring at my mom sleep. Still half asleep and caught up in the moment I couldn’t help thinking of Santa Claus. I realized how stupid the thought was and horror soon filled my head, I choked back a shriek. I knew I couldn’t let him see me awake so I quietly put my head back down pretending to sleep. My mind was racing, someone was in my room and I couldn’t do anything; I was a scrawny sixteen year old, this man looked built like an ox. I wondered if I could wake my dad up in time but I knew that wouldn’t work. He slept like a rock; a bucket of water couldn’t get him up fast enough. I was practically in tears; I’d never felt so helpless. For a second time I choked back a scream. He was standing next to me, and I could feel and hear his repulsive breath on my face; it smelled like he’d been eating rotten meat for a week now with no thought to brush his teeth. If he didn’t know I was awake surely he did now, seeing my face was contorted in fear. The breathing stopped and I couldn’t help the sigh of relief; I would've kicked myself but there was no need, I heard the room door open and close. I launched out of bed. Nothing in the room was in disarray and my family was still asleep. That couldn’t have been a dream, I couldn’t have imagined it. Feeling awake as ever a horrible idea popped into my head and before I could push it away I was pulling the door open. Glancing back to the door in order to memorize the room number I saw the giant spray-painted black ‘X’ on the door. Had I seen this without the prior experience I probably would’ve thought it was just some stupid kids, I knew better, but not enough to know what it was for. My heart skipped a beat, there he was, turning the corner at the end of the hall, ‘Why am I doing this?’ I tailed him down to the parking lot, he was nowhere in sight; one moment he’s walking out the lobby, the next he’s gone. Realizing how cold it is outside in paper-thin pajamas, I returned to the lobby. No one was around, strange; I could swear there’s usually a night concierge. Adrenaline wearing off, I realized how stupid and rash my actions had been; he could have killed me. I cursed myself back up the stairs. I knew something was wrong when I got to my floor. The door to my room was wide open, ‘I hadn’t left it that way, right?’ I walked inside and after a quick search of the room I determined it safe and my family was still asleep. I locked the door and got back into bed though I didn’t sleep for the rest of the night. I listened to my dad get up and eventually my mom followed but I still pretended to sleep. A few hours passed and my parents got my sister and I up, we got into the car, and made our way back to the airport. Digging through my bag to grab my iPod led to the finding of something that hadn’t been in there the previous day. A note that simply held the five words I still think about to this day, “I knew you were awake.” It’s now been two months since the hotel experience, I’m still scared for my life and it gets worse every day. That note I found wasn’t the only one; I still receive them. Regular programming, especially dramas, would either take a short break over the Christmas period or the festive season would become an integral part of the storyline and Coronation Street has been no exception in this respect. The holiday has always featured within the storylines although the nature in which has been treated has changed along with viewer tastes and habits in the years since 1960. Coronation Street 's debut on 9th December 1960 was too close to Christmas that year for the characters to be fully established within viewer's minds and for a meaningful story to be made from the season. Christmas Day fell on a Sunday that year and there was no need either to produce an episode to be shown on the day itself or its two adjacent days which would show the festivities of the residents. Preparations for the season and a visit from Linda and Ivan Cheveski were shown in the Tanner household and Ena Sharples, then recovering in hospital from a collapse, was serenaded by a group of choirboys with carols on a special visit to patients (the choirboys, Singers of the Boy's Choir, St. John's Church, Oldham, also featured in the next episode as carol singers in the street and in one unusual moment, broke the "fourth wall" and sang direct to camera). Apart from the decorations hanging on the sets little was made of the holiday. The following year, when Christmas Day fell on a Monday, circumstances also prevented the programme from showing something special as the Equity actors' strike was in full swing and the programme was reduced to a cast of just fourteen actors and no guest cast. The episode shown that day therefore concentrated on events within each of the resident's homes although it did also have the strange feature of the menfolk attending an (off-screen) women's charity football match while their wives stayed at home and began making their Christmas dinners. For the next ten years or so the programme made an extra effort with its Christmas storylines and attempted to put on something special within the context of the plotlines. There were a succession of plays, pantomimes, concerts, singalongs and even a special This Is Your Life presentation in 1963 where the "victim" was Annie Walker, providing the excuse for the temporary return of characters Billy Walker and Joan Davies and a goodbye from former resident Esther Hayes whose appearances within the programme had become more sporadic since her disappearance during the Actor's strike. Whilst the accent was on comedy in these episodes they also occasionally provided the excuse to showcase the talents of the actors themselves and Patricia Phoenix's rousing rendition of the song "Hey Look Me Over" from the 1960 Broadway musical Wildcat during the 1964 pantomime Aladdin and Jack Howarth's recitation of the poem The Girl I kissed On the Stairs in the 1969 concert in the Rovers are good examples. As the 1960s wore on the show also indulged in some special programmes, these being the 1968 extra Christmas on Coronation Street in which Jack and Annie Walker reminisced on past Christmas's on the street with extended clips from previous yuletide editions and the entire cast contributed segments in 1969 and 1970 to an ITV variety anthology called All Star Comedy Carnival which featured short segments from contemporary situation comedies and in which Coronation Street made a strange bedfellow. The one thing which remained constant throughout this period was the Viewing Figures; Coronation Street was the most consistently popular fixture in the ratings through most of the 1960s and easily beat everything that the BBC could throw at it throughout the decade with two exceptions – the fourth season of Steptoe and Son in 1965 and its Christmas programmes. With the exception of 1964 and 1969 the ratings for Coronation Street 's Christmas editions in its first decade were noticeably down on the surrounding episodes and as the 1970s began it was obvious to everyone in the industry that the prodigious effort that the BBC put into its Christmas output with programmes such as the now-legendary Morecambe and Wise shows decimated the opposition. 1972 saw the only episode of Coronation Street to be shown on the day itself in that decade and was one of only two episodes that year that failed to appear in the top twenty of the charts (the other being the August Bank Holiday edition). 1975, with an episode shown on Christmas Eve, proved to be a watershed in that it was the final episode of the programme to attempt a special episode with the residents repeating their endeavours of 1964 and 1968 in taking part in a pantomime for local children. Thereafter Christmas became more low-key within the narrative with none of the special events of previous years and in 1974 and 1978, in a move now considered unthinkable, no episode of the programme was shown on 25th December even though Christmas Day fell on a Wednesday and a Monday in those respective years. The one special event was also in 1975 when the programme produced another special episode of reminisces and clips from previous Christmas episodes, this time broadcast in the programme's regular slot and broadcast under its normal title although it is nowadays known as Annie and Betty's Coronation Street Memories. This lower-key approach to Christmas continued until the mid-1980s when the landscape changed once more and again it was the BBC who led the way. The defection of Morecambe and Wise to ITV in 1978, followed a few years later by the death of Eric Morecambe and a gradual dearth in successful sitcoms and variety shows meant that the BBC had to look elsewhere for its Christmas "big-hitters". Only Fools and Horses soon established itself as the "nation's favourite" for its big Christmas treat but it was in 1986 that the soaps took centre-stage when EastEnders, launched only the year before, staggered everyone in the industry when it took prime place in the ratings with an audience (including its omnibus repeat) of over 30 million. The programme had proven enormously popular that year and its main viewer-grabbing storyline for the episode of Den Watts serving divorce papers on his wife puzzled some due to its non-festive and somewhat squalid nature but television executives got the message – the soaps could be Christmas ratings winners. ITV gained an opportunity to put this to the test the following year when Jean Alexander, beloved of the viewing public for her portrayal of Hilda Ogden, left the programme after twenty-three years and it was decided that her final appearance would be the Christmas Day edition. Well-publicised, the episode gained ratings of almost 27 million (again when combined with a special omnibus repeat shown on 27th December) and from thereon in soaps have become a staple of the Christmas Day viewing line-up. With the exception of 1993, irrespective of the day of the week on which Christmas Day falls, ITV has shown an episode of Coronation Street and since 1998 these have always been one-hour episodes, an experiment that was first attempted in 1995. Uniquely in 1991 two episodes were shown, the second one in the usual 7.30pm timeslot but the first one, shown at 2.50pm "surrounded" the traditional 3.00pm broadcast of the Queen's speech with Alf Roberts being shown sitting down to watch the programme along with millions of others in the country. The incidents of births and weddings at Christmas is noticeably high in the programme compared to the national average: characters (David Platt, twins William and Rebecca Mallett, and Ben Watts) were born on Christmas Day, and Rosie Webster on Christmas Eve. The wedding of Alf and Audrey Roberts, as well as Ashley and Claire Peacock's wedding ceremony, took place on or near Christmas Day. The programme has so far avoided a habit of EastEnders of "killing off" characters in its Christmas episodes although some storylines such as the breakdown the marriage of Steve and Karen McDonald have had tragic overtones. Coronation Street has proven to be a winner for ITV in the charts at Christmas over the past two decades and quite often has been the only noticeable entry for the network in the charts on the day against the BBC's showing of blockbuster films, EastEnders, comedy specials and the recent success of Doctor Who. ITV have occasionally pushed the success of Coronation Street during the yuletide season with special programmes such as 2005's Coronation Street Pantomime and some editions of the Judy Finnegan-introduced show Classic Coronation Street being shown in the holiday period. The announcement of the storylines for Christmas are eagerly awaited by the tabloid press and the resultant success of the programme within the viewing charts is invariably toasted by ITV executives. Virus.DOS.Christmas is a memory resident parasitic virus on DOS. This virus has 7 variants in 4 versions: * Virus.DOS.Christmas.600 * Virus.DOS.Christmas.868 * Virus.DOS.Christmas.1539 (A, B and C) * Virus.DOS.Christmas.1694 Christmas is a holiday celebrated by some humans on December 25th, commemorating the birth of someone called "Christ". It seems to revolve around the exchange of material goods, the slaughter and festooning of conifers, and the consumption of roasted avians. More importantly, it is the locus of a powerful "spirit" manifesting in charity, goodwill, and appreciation. Even hardened Decepticon warriors and vengeance-driven humans are subject to its influence. Some Autobots have been known to don a red outfit with a bushy, white beard as part of the Christmas ritual. While not the most extreme example of quasi-fetishistic anthropomorphization among Transformers, this case is notable in its lack of explanation. Perhaps it is related to the similarly-opaque "Christ" figure at the center of the holiday. Another human custom, Black Friday, is rumored to be the busiest day of shopping for the material goods needed for exchange on Christmas. Christmas was covered in episodes "Christmas at Plum Creek," and "A Christmas They Never Forgot." When Dana and Melissa Scully were children, their father, William, would usually make his children take the family Christmas tree down on the day after Christmas. (TXF: "Beyond the Sea") In 1993, while being questioned about her role in the unexplained disappearance of Ruby Morris, a teenager named Tessa claimed that Greg Randall, the father of her own unborn child and Ruby's former boyfriend, had promised her that they would be in Los Angeles by Christmas of that year. (TXF: "Conduit") In January 1994, Dana Scully, who had since become an adult, still had her most recent Christmas tree standing inside her apartment. She told her father that she was planning on continuing to display it for the rest of the year. Later the same month, Elizabeth Hawley told her boyfriend, Jim Summers, that on the recent Christmas Day, her family had been opening presents and doing things associated with Christmas while she had been sitting in her "own little world, thinking 'I just wish Jim were here'." (TXF: "Beyond the Sea") Christmas is once a year expirence. and the Happiest day as a Pinoy. Popular Christmas customs include church celebrations, Christmas dinner, exchanging gifts or Christmas cards, Christmas music and caroling, and decorating homes and surroundings with Christmas trees, lights, ornaments, nativity scenes, garlands, wreaths, mistletoe, and holly. Christmas is also a special occasion for children as they fantasize Santa Claus traveling a long journey carrying fancy gifts for them. Christmas was a central feast and celebration on both Earth and Narnia. In Narnia, it was most likely imported from Earth by King Frank. It was outlawed by the White Witch during the Long Winter until Father Christmas returned, claiming the Witch's power was weakening with Aslan's return and the children's coming. The guy in the red costume seems to have many different faces, we do not yet know how this is possible, but we are investigating it. These are the different faces we've been able to find so far. NOTE: Add new ones if you find them. Christmas is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and a widely observed holiday, celebrated generally on December 25 by millions of people around the world. A feast central to the Christian liturgical year, it closes the Advent season and initiates the twelve days of Christmastide, which ends after the twelfth night. Christmas is a civil holiday in many of the world's nations, is celebrated by an increasing number of non-Christians, and is an integral part of the Christmas and holiday season. Christmas was an ancient Earth religious holiday in the Christian faith that celebrated the birth of Christ, the portended son of God. It also had roots in ancient pagan Earth religions as a celebration of the winter solstice. It was celebrated on December 25. Related celebrations often occurred on the day before (Christmas Eve) and the day after (known as "Boxing Day" or "Saint Stephen's Day"). Traditional Christmas celebrations often included singing "Christmas carols," decorating Christmas trees, drinking egg nog, and giving gifts. Though by the 23rd century humanity had mostly "moved beyond archaic religions", many humans still celebrated Christmas, with varying degrees of secularism. Starfleet crews often had shipboard Christmas parties. In 2266, one such Christmas party was held for personnel in the science labs of the Federation starship Enterprise. James T. Kirk made an appearance, and ended up spending a romantic evening with Helen Noel after they met, danced and he talked about the stars. (TOS: "Dagger of the Mind") Christmas was a big affair on Titan, and the celebration there usually included a spectacular fireworks display, increasing in intensity over the traditional "twelve days of Christmas". In 2348, the fireworks were so loud on Christmas Eve that young Timothy Sinclair could hear them detonating above Enclave J-12 from his underground living area. Fearing an attack, he hid in the enclave's access tunnels where he was found by Dr. Robert Blaisdell. Blaisdell explained the fireworks, and read "the Christmas story" from the Bible to Sinclair, telling him "It's the reason for tomorrow." Blaisdell gave the boy the Bible he read from, which Sinclair treasured all his life as his first Christmas gift. (Star Trek: Pendragon: "Midnight Clear", "Father to the Man") After his departure from the enclave, Christmas became a very important holiday to Sinclair, though it was several years until he experienced a traditional Christmas with Ben Bartholomew and his family, while attending Starfleet Academy in 2358. Sinclair often spent the holidays with the Bartholomews. After his marriage to Jean Brennan, the Bartholomews usually joined the Sinclairs at their ranch in Colorado. Eventually Christmas at the ranch became a grand affair involving many of the Sinclairs' friends and adopted family. (Star Trek: Pendragon: "Midnight Clear") Aboard the USS Scandalon in 2364, Captain Steve Tecklenberg held a Western-themed "Christmas round-up" on the holodeck for his crew. It became an annual tradition. Captain Sinclair later continued the practice aboard the USS Pendragon in the 2380s. (Star Trek: Pendragon) In 2367, the Sinclairs spent Christmas in Ireland with Fionnula O'Brien (Jean's foster mother) and her family. It was the elderly O'Brien's last Christmas before her death. (Star Trek: Pendragon: "Midnight Clear") In an alternate universe in 2370, the Cardassian helmsman of the Enterprise-D, Hirhul Mendral, attended an December Advent service in the weeks leading up to Christmas with his friend Sam Lavelle. This service was rather sparsely attended by crew members given the religion's fall from popularity in the post-World War III era, but there were still enough believers who celebrated in the religious sense to justify the presence of a Christian chaplain, Sandik, to reside full-time on the ship and lead worship. Mendral found himself moved to tears by the hymn "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel," which to him was deeply reminiscent of the situation faced by the Bajoran-occupied worlds of Cardassia, which he had fled when he was young. (Sigils and Unions: Catacombs of Oralius--"Captives' Ransom") While trapped in the Nexus in 2371, Captain Jean-Luc Picard experienced a Christmas, complete with a Christmas tree, presents and dinner, with his illusory children and wife, before being shaken from his reverie and resuming his mission to stop Tolian Soran from destroying the Veridian system. (Star Trek Generations) Christmas was also celebrated aboard the USS Liberty during the 2370s. (Star Trek: Liberty: "Following Yonder Star", "Midnight Mass") Romulans regarded gagh as "special occasion" food. During Christmas, Romulans used a birch as a Christmas tree, had all kinds of food from various worlds made, and ate so much gagh that they have eaten through a three-month supply for five people. (RIS Bouteina: "Merry Christmas") During a stay at a Lyran starbase, the crew of the RIS Bouteina was challenged to a hockey game being played on Christmas. To this end, they formed the Praetorians to play against the Lyrans' Wildcats. The Praetorians won the game 9-8, with a Kzinti bank as their Christmas gift. (RIS Bouteina: "A Hockey Game Broke Out") Christmas (or X-mas) is a special map only available, as the name suggests, during Christmas time. It comes in 2 modes, Team Deathmatch Mode and Elimination Mode. Many people enjoy making custom compilation CDs of music for the Christmas holiday, which has more songs written for or about it than any other. __NOEDITSECTION__ When going to Atlantis in 2006, Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell told Vala Mal Doran that Dr. Daniel Jackson was so excited about going there, he felt excitement reminiscent of that felt by a kid staying up all night on Christmas Eve. (SG1: "The Pegasus Project") When trapped in a time dilation field for 50 years on the Odyssey, SG-1 celebrated Christmas at least once. The decorations that were present were likely created using the Asgard computer core. (SG1: "Unending") While trying to return to Destiny in 2010, Lt. Matthew Scott's team arrived on a planet, where it was snowing. Chloe Armstrong mentioned that it reminded her of when she used to spend Christmas in a cabin in Vermont. (SGU: "Lost") Christmas is a Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Christ. (DS9: "Our Man Bashir") In 2265, a Christmas party was held for personnel in the science labs of the Federation starship Enterprise. Captain James T. Kirk made an appearance, and ended up spending a romantic evening with Helen Noel after they met, danced and he talked about the stars. (TOS: "Dagger of the Mind" ) Christmas is the setting of A Christmas Carol, a play in which Data was going to be performing as Ebenezer Scrooge in 2367. (TNG: "Devil's Due" ) When telling Harry Kim about why he finally confessed to the piloting error that killed his shipmates, Tom Paris joked that "the ghosts of those three dead officers came to me in the middle of the night and taught me the true meaning of Christmas”. (VOY: "Caretaker", "Non Sequitur") While trapped in the Nexus in 2371, Captain Jean-Luc Picard experienced a Christmas – complete with a Christmas tree, presents and dinner – with his illusory children and wife, before being shaken from his reverie and resuming his mission to stop Tolian Soran from destroying the Veridian system. (Star Trek Generations) While attempting to escape Q in 2372, Quinn briefly tried to hide the USS Voyager, disguising it as an ornament on a Christmas tree. (VOY: "Death Wish") In 2376, overwhelmed with gifts from various visitors, Kathryn Janeway rhetorically asked Chakotay if it didn't look like Christmas morning in here. (VOY: "Survival Instinct") Also that year, the holographic character Michael Sullivan mentioned Christmas twice, once when he described Harry Kim and Tom Paris as being "trussed up like Christmas turkeys", and when Janeway gave him a copy of Mark Twain's A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, asking her if it was "Christmas come early" (VOY: "Spirit Folk") Christmas is a winter holiday traditionally celebrated on December 25. Though conceived as a holiday to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the central figure of of the religion of Christianity, it has since expanded into a holiday that is celebrated by people around the world, regardless of their religious beliefs. Christmas is traditionally marked by the giving of gifts and sharing time together with family and friends. It is represented by the figure of Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas and Sinterklaas, amongst other names. A Christmas tree is a traditional symbol of the holiday. The Disney Pooh Christmas productions always focus on the gift-giving and family/friends aspect and omit any religious references. In the Hundred Acre Wood, Christmas celebrations have been seen many times in episodes and movies such as The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh special Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too and the My Friends Tigger & Pooh special Pooh's Super Sleuth Christmas Movie. The 2002 direct-to-video release film A Very Merry Pooh Year included the original Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too special. Christmas has also been depicted in numerous Pooh book releases, such as the Winnie the Pooh Christmas Treasury, Pooh's Christmas Sled Ride and Pooh Loves Christmas! The Disney-owned cable/satellite network ABC Family traditionally airs Pooh programming as part of its 25 Days of Christmas lineup, including Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day, Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too and Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too. File:ChristmasPopUp.jpg Christmas is a holiday commemmorating the birth of Jesus, celebrated on December 25 (some Eastern Orthodox Churches celebrate on this date according to the Julian calendar, which currently corresponds to January 7). There is no consensus on exactly how and when the celebration of Christmas started, but the majority of scholars agree that the actual birthdate of Jesus remains unknown. The word is derived from a contraction meaning "Christ's mass". Aspects of the celebration may include a surge in church attendance, increased focus on teaching about the incarnation, the gathering of many families and friends, the exchange of cards and gifts (often including the Santa Claus myth), and the display of Nativity sets, Christmas trees, and an abundance of lights and decorations. Despite being nearly universally associated with the birth of Jesus, Christmas is celebrated by a broad range of people of many different faiths. Largely a cultural holiday developed by writers like Washington Irving and Charles Dickens in the 19th century as a family-oriented day of "peace on earth and good will toward men," it is also the most economically significant holiday of the year. This commercialization, along with the relationships some have tried to draw in recent years to ancient pagan festivals, has prompted some groups to oppose the celebration of Christmas, despite the fact that our current traditions bear almost no resemblance to the practices of the ancient, classical or medieval periods. If you see an issue that involves Christmas but is not listed, add the template to the issue. Christmas was a human holiday, closely associated with the birth of the Christian messiah, Jesus. In the Post Diaspora era, it was still celebrated on several planets and systems including Grayson and Manticore. On Grayson, schools usually closed for Christmas vacation on December 18th. (HH9, HH12) "Christmas" is an episode of Stupid Mario Brothers, dedicated to the Christmas season of 2008. (Macross Saga: Season's Greetings) Roger Wilco once decorated a Christmas tree, the lightd were all tangled. Roger's boss on the Arcada once gave him a Arcada model builder for Christmas. The full synopsis of this event is unknown. Among the secular traditions are eating Christmas food, giving each other presents, singing and dancing together, decorating a Christmas tree and baking. The Episode Babies In Toyland was released on VHS before it released on TV This page gives you the opportunity to redirect to the original article that is on Wikipedia or stay on the American Football Database. In the Sonic X zone, Sonic was initially disbelieving that a single man could perform such an impossible feat, questioning Chris Thorndyke's belief that he was a real person. Dr. Eggman used the concept of Santa in an attempt to capture Sonic: disguised as the figure, he threatened to withhold this years presents unless the citizens of Station Square brought Sonic to him. (SX: #15) During the time the Prime Zone was altered by the second Genesis Wave, Dr. Eggman likened the captured Dr. Light to "Santa in a lab coat" (the Doctor's large white beard giving him a striking resemblance to the figure), implying that Christmas was celebrated on Mobius in this reality. (MM: #26) Other traditions associated with Christmas include the erection and decoration of a Christmas tree. (SX: #15) Information obtained in great part from The Peel Sessions (Garner, K., BBC Books, 2007). Christmas is the yearly and annual holiday celebrated on December 25 during winter at the end of the year. It has roots in the Snowman Empire, where it was a snow festival. Later it has become a time of caring, gift-giving, and family. Many celebrate Christmas by giving presents to others and setting up Christmas trees in their igloos. It is one of the biggest holidays there is. Penguins also give out Christmas cards to each-other and wish everyone a Happy New Year aswell. Christian Festival that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Date was calculated by theologians based on a combination of astrology and sacred texts. By Divine Luck, this gave them the hatrick over the Pagans, as like Easter and All Saints this clashed with one of their major festivals. Maybe they *both* have it right after all....? Christmas commemorated the birth of Earth religious leader Jesus Christ. The Eighth Doctor claimed to be present at the event, labelled as the "first Christmas". Since the actual date was not 25 December, he worked the date out from census records in Rome; it was "round about zero BC, AD", in Bethlehem, Judea. He checked all the inns of the town; all of them were packed out, but one at the far end of the town, with a stable attached. He travelled there with Leonardo da Vinci, who didn't dare to go further. (AUDIO: Relative Dimensions) Nonetheless, the Tenth Doctor once claimed it was he who got the last room at the inn. (TV: Voyage of the Damned) Gifts are exchanged and children's presents are left next to their pillow at night. Christmas parties are held on and around Christmas Day; a unique feature of these celebrations is the Japanese Christmas cake, which is often a white whipped cream cake with strawberries. The second greatest holiday ever, after Ronald Reagan's birthday, Christmas is the time of celebration and joy where people of all faiths can come together and celebrate the The Baby Jesus's birthday. If you don't celebrate Christmas, then you are a terrorist and you are going to Hell. If you believe, as the people of Thailand do, that Christmas celebrates the crucifixtion of Santa Claus by his seven dwarves, you are also going to Hell. Liberals hate this holiday. Jon Stewart, known for being Stephen Colbert's Jewish friend, had placed a War on Christmas that Bill O'Reilly had the guts to call him on. Hopefully, under the Christian guidance of Stephen Colbert, the Jewish Demons can be expelled from Jon's body and he can work towards being more Christian and Christmas loving. A special bonus to the greatness that is Christmas, it is the one day when all bears lay down arms against the human race in fear of the mighty wrath of the Jesus. The guardians are called by North and he asks them to help delivering the gifts to the children around the world. They are glad to help. Jack overhears Anna asking Elsa about getting him a gift, so Jack has an idea for Elsa's gift. North gives them a delivery map, so Rapunzel and Bunny go to Thai-Gone, Anna and Kristoff go to Masco's place, North and Tooth will go to Dynasty City, and finally Jack and Elsa go to Hoilyhill. Suddenly, Jack thinks of his chibi self doing a happy dance party. Everyone then goes off to deliver gifts from house to house. Finally, they have finished the last gifts. So, Elsa and Jack just have a break. He asks her to go out and shop. She agrees. As they're looking around, they have fun. Elsa buys something for Jack and her friends. Jack does the same as well. Then, a little girl is lost and sad because she can't find her mother, so she asks the duo to help her. Jack tells Elsa to stay with Olaf and Baby Teeth as he's off to help the little girl find her mother. And so, Elsa and Olaf are chatting. He asks her if she has a feeling about Jack Frost. She is blushing a little and tells him to keep a promise. He agrees, so he keeps a promise for her. As they are walking and waiting for Jack to come back, the guards spot them and surround them. Elsa uses her power to attack, but she is caught by one of the guards. Olaf tries to save her, but is pushed to the snow by another guard. The guard is smirking at her, but then he is zapped by Jack Frost. Elsa then zaps the guards behind her. After they beat the guards, he asks her if she's okay. She's okay, and so is Olaf. So, she grabs the two bags as Jack uses the snowglobe to open the portal, then they run back to North's workshop. The party has just started. As for Jack, he gives Elsa a gift. Elsa gives a gift to Jack too. When they open them, Elsa gets a doll of Jack Frost and he gets the Elsa doll. So, they both say thanks. As they look up, they notice that they are under a mistletoe. They both blush, so they both close their eyes as they are about to get their first kiss when suddenly Anna screams at an unknown girl who stole Tooth, Bunny, Rapunzel and North's weapons. Bunny is about to chase her when she takes North's snowglobe. Bunny almost gets her when he runs into a cake, causing his face to get covered by it. She is laughing and says farewell, using the snowglobe to go back to her world. So, Elsa and Jack rush into the portal. As they get there, they look around and find out that they're in another new town called Sugarland. Christmas is a human holiday celebrated annually on December 25th. Christmas commemorated the birth of religious figure Jesus Christ, though it also incorporated the traditions of other winter solstice celebrations predating the rise of Christianity. Curtis A. Wellborn, a former lover of Roberta Lincoln, was killed in action in the Vietnam War on Christmas Day, 1970. (TOS - Star Trek: Assignment: Earth comic: "My Name Is Legion") The personnel of the USS Enterprise's science lab held a Christmas party in late 2266, which Captain Kirk attended. After the party, he spent the evening with Helen Noel. (TOS episode: "Dagger of the Mind") In 2293, James T. Kirk sent Spock a Christmas card. The inscription only read, "Happy Winter Solstice". (TOS novel: The Fearful Summons) Lieutenant Sam Redbay of the USS Voyager regularly celebrated Christmas. (VOY novel: The Final Fury) During Captain Jean-Luc Picard's time in the Nexus, he experienced a traditional Christmas celebration with his (illusory) family. (TNG movie: Star Trek: Generations) Hikaru Sulu observed Christmas as a child. (ST novel: Excelsior: Forged in Fire)
