  • __TOC__
  • Crowd control (commonly shortened to CC) is a blanket term used in MMORPGs(Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games) and MOBAs (Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas) to describe abilities or spells that remove or diminish the control a target unit has over aspects of itself - aspects such as being able to cast spells or initiate movement commands. As crowd controls impact a unit's combat ability, they are essentially more specialized forms of debuffs - however, this ability to directlyhinder a unit's ability to fight means that crowd controls are often given significantly more importance in regular gameplay than normal debuffs, resulting in their special classification.
  • "Crowd Control" or "CC" is a term used to describe when a player incapacitates an enemy or group of enemies from a fight in a way to allow everyone to focus on one target.
  • Crowd Control is an Activity in Saints Row 2. Protect a celebrity from crazed fans to earn cash and respect. — Crowd Control introductionBroken {{ref}} (youtube link)
  • Crowd control is handling of one or more links on pulls or aggressive monster pops in both exp parties and special situation like Dynamis. The idea is to neutralize all but one monster so the party or alliance only has to deal with one battle target at a time. Or, at the very least, buy enough time to exit the zone safely via Escape or running across the zone line.
  • In Overwatch, crowd control (often shortened as CC) refers to an ability that prevents an enemy from moving, using their weapon, and/or using their abilities. Many heroes have forms of crowd control, usually in forms that stun enemies or push them away.
  • Crowd Control is a term used in massively multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPG) to refer to a character or class with skills that help parties deal with multiple enemies at the same time. This is generally accomplished in Final Fantasy XI through the use of Sleep or Bind spells or a character devoting himself to kiting an enemy around while the party dispenses with one creature at a time. In other Final Fantasy games, however, this is usually done with the help of Area of Effect spells, or spells which can damage multiple enemies at a time.

  • Crowd Control refers to the ability to limit the number of mobs actively fighting during an encounter. It can also refer to abilities that influence or prevent the abilities or actions of other character(s). Crowd control can be extremely powerful, controlling the possible outcomes of an encounter, as it forces opponents to use a smaller set of abilities/actions. Players use crowd control to create offense/defense ratio imbalances between themselves and their opponent. When used properly, CC often renders an opponent nearly useless, allowing the CCer to use abilities/actions against an opponent without fear of retaliation or response. In a group setting, crowd control often makes combat safer, easier, or viable.
  • Some skills will have a specific effect that will affect an enemy's control over his character. These are called Crowd Control effects. Their goal is to incapacitate or limit the combat capabilites of opponents in order to defeat them easier, escape or many other tactical purposes. There are several types of crowd control spells in Regnum Online:
  • Crowd Control (abbreviated CC) refers to spells and abilities which limit an opponent's ability to fight. CC abilities are used to reduce the number of mobs that the group fight at once. Due to the fact that most groups cannot tank more than a certain number of elite mobs at a time, crowd control is often essential to prevent a group from being overwhelmed. For a guide on how to effectively use CC in instances, see the Instance grouping guide for a crowd controller.
  • Crowd Control (a.k.a. Control Impairing Effects or Status Effects, often abbreviated as CC) is a common term for all effects (other than dealing damage or changing the amount of damage dealt and received) that can be placed on players or monsters. The name implies their purpose; they are mostly used to buy the attacker time to deal their own damage (or cover their escape), while preventing numerous or overly strong enemies from offensive actions or normal movement. * Knockback * Stone Curse Diablo II added more forms, used by both players and monsters, but removed the Stone Curse:
  • Various Spells and Special Abilities are able to disable enemy attacks and/or movement; in the latter case, melee units' attacks will be neutralized if they are unable to close to melee range. Movement neutralization is also useful for avoiding enemies altogether, which is especially useful in Player vs Environment maps. See In the final analysis, Crowd Control's purpose is damage reduction. Crowd control reduces the number of damage-dealing targets, making large numbers of enemies more manageable. In alphabetical order, the main forms of crowd control are:

  • This situation can be very irritating, but there are quite a few techniques that you can employ to improve the situation. This article summarizes many helpful suggestions posted on SBF, the Soap Bubble Fanciers Yahoo Group over the years. Each of the techniques listed in this article is one whose efficacy I have witnessed. Not every technique will work in every situation. You may have to try a few of them before you find the one that works for any particular situation. See this thread also:
