Forrest's Trees were a group of demonstrators who supported Patriot Party candidate Nathan Bedford Forrest in the Presidential race of 1867. The Trees wore gray capes with hoods as their uniform. In early Spring, a group of Trees took part in a heated debate between followers of opposing candidates in Nashville, North Carolina, loudly singing the "Bedford Forrest Quickstep" during the event. Later that year, a group of Trees served as Forrest's bodyguards at a rally in nearby Rocky Mount.
