Gorion was a monk, a skilled spellcaster, a learned sage and a respected Harper. He lived in the library-fortress of Candlekeep during the times when he wasn't adventuring. When you begin the game, you are told that Gorion is waiting to leave Candlekeep with you. You are instructed to gather some supplies and protection, then meet him at the steps of the Library. In Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition Gorion also carries/wears a Belt of Antipode. You then begin Chapter 1 of the game.
