He played 138 NHL games with the Kansas City Scouts and Philadelphia Flyers and also played 23 WHA games with the Edmonton Oilers. He played junior hockey for the Peterborough Petes from 1968 to 1970 and was chosen 34th overall by the Minnesota North Stars in the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft. In all, Patterson played in 138 NHL games and scored 6 goals and 22 assists. In the WHA he scored 2 assists in 23 games. Dennis is currently a scout with the Philadelphia Flyers.

  • Dennis Gordon Patterson (born January 9, 1950 in Peterborough, Ontario) is a retired professional ice hockey defenceman. He played 138 NHL games with the Kansas City Scouts and Philadelphia Flyers and also played 23 WHA games with the Edmonton Oilers. He played junior hockey for the Peterborough Petes from 1968 to 1970 and was chosen 34th overall by the Minnesota North Stars in the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft. Patterson turned pro with the Clinton Comets and the Cleveland Barons in 1970-71. He continued in the minors until the Kansas City Scouts picked him up in the 1974 NHL Expansion Draft. He played two seasons for the Scouts and then signed with the WHA's Edmonton Oilers in 1976. He split the 1976-77 season between the Oilers and the Rhode Island Reds, In 1977-78 Patterson joined the Maine Mariners. They won the Calder Cup that year. He continued with the Mariners until his retirement in 1983, earning American Hockey League all-star status in 1979, 1980, and 1981. He also got called up for three games with the Philadelphia Flyers in 1979-80. In all, Patterson played in 138 NHL games and scored 6 goals and 22 assists. In the WHA he scored 2 assists in 23 games. Dennis is currently a scout with the Philadelphia Flyers.
