(DS9: "You Are Cordially Invited..." • "Penumbra") De Ya'Vang was niet te zien op het scherm, maar lijkt voor de hand te liggen dat het schip tot de K't'inga-klasse behoort vanwege de "gevechtskruiser" aanduiding.

  • In 2374, the Ya'Vang took heavy casualties following an engagement with Dominion forces. In order to replenish the crew complement, the Ya'Vang took aboard a large contingent from the IKS Rotarran including Alexander Rozhenko. (DS9 episode: "You Are Cordially Invited") Later in 2374, under command of Captain Lothorg, the Ya'Vang transported Sirella of the House of Martok to the wedding of Worf and Jadzia Dax at Deep Space 9. (Decipher RPG module: Starships) In 2375, the Ya'Vang was one of the four allied ships that survived the Battle of Ricktor Prime, and the only Klingon Defense Force vessel to do so. (TNG short story: "Four Lights") Several months later, Alexander Rozhenko was promoted to weapons officer of the Ya'Vang. (DS9 episode: "Penumbra") The Ya'Vang was one of the ships that stayed loyal to Martok during Gothmara and Morjod's coup d'état in 2376. (DS9 - The Left Hand of Destiny novels: Book One, Book Two) In 2379, the Ya'Vang, under the command of Captain Rota, was part of a fleet of sixty Klingon vessels sent to Tezwa after the destruction of a smaller fleet four hours before. The Ya'Vang was given the honor of being the first to attack, but just as they were about to strike, the USS Enterprise-E used the Klingon Fleet Command codes to gain control of the entire Klingon fleet completely shutting down power on the ships. The Ya'Vang, along with the rest of the fleet, was guided to the edge of the system and then released. Alexander Rozhenko was still serving aboard the Ya'Vang at this time. (TNG novel: A Time to Kill) In 2381, the Ya'Vang was dispatched to the Azure Nebula to join the allied fleet amassing there to prevent further Borg incursions. While the USS Aventine and Enterprise-E were on the remote side of a subspace tunnel, the allied fleet under the command of Captain Chakotay and the USS Voyager detected a different tunnel opening to allow the passage of starships. The fleet moved into battle positions, and Voyager's first officer Tom Paris ordered the Ya'Vang to assume a flanking position along with the warbird IRW Loviatar. However, seven thousand Borg cubes emerged from the spacial phenomenon and obliterated the waiting fleet. (ST - Destiny novel: Mere Mortals) Although most other Vor'cha-class starships are referred to as attack cruisers in canon, the Ya'Vang and other Vor'cha-class vessels listed by Decipher's role-playing game as battle cruisers. It is not clear if this is because they are outfitted differently or if the two cruiser terms had become somewhat synonymous. The ENT novel: Kobayashi Maru features a 22nd century Klingon captain, Ya'Vang, intended as the namesake of the 24th century vessel.

[1] For its second mention in "Penumbra", according to the script, the pronunciation was changed to "yuh-VANG". [2] The Ya'Vang was not shown on screen. While not an official source, Decipher roleplaying game supplement Starships stated that this vessel was a Vor'cha-class starship and its registry is IKC-11553..
