  • The minotaur emperor resides on the lowest level of the Minotaur Maze. He has very powerful melee attacks (usually four to six per turn, depending on the PC's speed), and is best engaged from a distance with spells or missiles. He is always guarded by four minotaur mages. Note that a wish for "minotaur emperor" will instead result in a horde of hostile minotaur kings being summoned.

Corpse
  • Like all high-ranking minotaurs the emperor's corpse heavily confuses, severely decreases Willpower and increases Perception. Currently as of 2.0.1, the exact stat changes are +3 Strength, +3 Toughness, +6 Perception, and -8 Willpower. In 1.1.1, the perception gain was halved. In 1.2.0, the strength and willpower gains were doubled. Note that these stat changes are not capped by potential, nor do they depend on your stat's current value, making his corpse one of the best rewards of the maze. His corpse also corrupts the PC for 200d10 corruption points, or one effect on average, and confuses the PC for 40d24+60 turns. There are a couple tactics one can employ to avoid this confusion. Praying will remove the confusion while requiring minimal piety, assuming the PC does not need something else, like healing. Eating the corpse while in the wilderness will result in the confusion status dissipating rapidly; this tactic stacks with -Conf items. As of r65 corpse can also be delivered to Guth'Alak in order to obtain potion of cure corruption.

Monster Memory
  • The ultimate in the bovine form, this powerful beast was once a king who won his position through subtlety and strength, defeating the former emperor to become the heart of the maze. Truly the master of horn and hoof, he is faster, trickier, and more dangerous than any other bovine on Ancardia. It is said that this beast's powers are linked to the maze, each feeding the other, granting the emperor a lifespan and abilities far beyond the others of his race.

Name
  • Minotaur emperor
Description
  • The minotaur emperor resides on the lowest level of the Minotaur Maze. He has very powerful melee attacks , and is best engaged from a distance with spells or missiles. He is always guarded by four minotaur mages. When killed he drops the axe of the minotaur emperor, two to four potions of cure corruption, and his corpse. Prior to ADOM version 1.2.0, his final 'reward' is a potion of strength; in 1.2.0 the additional rewards became a random artifact, ~4 potions of gain attributes and three spellbooks. In 2.0.1 , the additional rewards from 1.2.0 now each have a random chance of dropping. Killing the minotaur emperor also adds a line of achievement to the player's end of game log file, and presumably a corresponding score boost. Note that a wish for "minotaur emperor" will instead result in a horde of hostile minotaur kings being summoned.
