Tarpals fought valiantly in defense of Otoh Gunga and his people, rising in the ranks to captain of the guard. Boss Nass recognized his quality and fought alongside him in fierce clashes with Human colonists, Gungan criminal enterprises, and pirates.

| abstract | - [Source] Roos Tarpals est un Gungan vivant sur Naboo. En 32 ABY, Tarpals était capitaine dans la Grande Armée Gungan, responsable de la surveillance de la capitale Otoh Gunga. Il vu les droïdes de la Fédération du Commerce envahirent sa planète et prendre le contrôle des villes humaine sans pouvoir atteindre les Gungans vivant sous l'eau. Par la suite, Rugor Nass décida d'aider les humains après que leur reine Padmé Amidala les ai supplié. Roos dirigea alors les troupes Gungans au coté de Jar Jar Binks dans la bataille de Naboo. Ils furent capturés par les droïdes avant qu'ils ne soient tous désactivés, donnant la victoire aux Gungans et humains de Naboo. Plus tard, durant la Guerre des Clones, Roos Tarpal fut nommé général. Il mourut tué par Grievous.

Unfortunately, Tarpals' life was ruined when he encountered Jar Jar Binks. Jar Jar humiliated Tarpals at the officers dinner by spilling soup all over the Gungan general. Then he crashed Tarpals' heyblibber and escaped justice by accidentally destroying the prison in which he was kept during the trial. Finally, Jar Jar accidentally killed Tarpals' loving wife and three adorable children, when he knocked over a box filled with highly explosive boomas. Heartbroken, Tarpals plodded on, dedicated and noble. He fought in the Battle of Grassy Plains... only to discover that Jar Jar had been promoted to general because of his bizarre hijinks during the battle, eclipsing Tarpals' modest rank of captain. That was the final straw. Tarpals took his life soon afterward. At Tarpals' funeral, Jar Jar gave the eulogy, then stumbled backwards and fell into the casket.

Esta no fue una tarea fácil para Tarpals porque, a pesar de sus diferencias, Tarpals y Binks eran amigos aunque eran muy diferentes. Aunque Tarpals tuvo en el pasado que capturar a Binks por sus negligentes transgresiones contra leyes gungan, él con frecuencia iba primero a ayudar al torpe joven. Por la devoción de Tarpals a Binks, y las dificultades que él tenía que soportar, los otros gungans se referían a Jar Jar Binks como “la Muerte del Capitán Tarpals”. Durante la ocupación de la Federación de Comercio en Naboo, Tarpals formó parte del Gran Ejército Gungan que lucho contra gran cantidad de droides de batalla invasores. Sin embargo, Grievous descubrió la farsa, deseando acabar con Jar Jar. Con el ejército droide apagado por Tarpals, el General kaleesh se enfrentó a los gungans derrotando a varios de ellos, hasta que el valiente capitán Tarpals se enfrentó sólo a Grievous, pero en el clímax de la batalla, Tarpals fue atravesado en el estómago, muriendo valientemente poco antes de que Jar Jar y los otros derrotaran y capturaran a Grievous.
