According to another flight attendant, Rhoda Teneiro, he did whatever Meele told him to do and no one else, forcing Teneiro to pretend to have gotten his permission in order for Miles Edgeworth to conduct his investigation.
  • When Thomas got lost on Misty Island, he helped in the search for him by taking the Fat Controller to search by sea, and later brought Jobi logs for the construction of the Sodor Search and Rescue Centre. When Stephen went missing, Captain, along with the rest of the Search and Rescue Team, went to look for him. Once, Emily accidentally lost her special globe of the world to the sea, but luckily, Captain was there to help push the globe to Cranky, so he could lift it back onto Emily's flatbed.
  • Captain is a high-ranking military position within the Galactic Federation. Usually, captains are within the jurisdiction of the Federation Police Force or the Galactic Federation Marine Corps. Captain Dare was the first depicted Federation Police officer, seen in the Captain N: The Game Master comic Breakout. Also in Captain N, the title character is the leader of the N-Team, an assembly of original characters and those from video games, which included Samus Aran in the comics. Captain Jack, mentioned only in Blood of the Chozo, was a merchant that sold holo-cards and advised against buying them from Earth. Also in Blood of the Chozo, Captain Thea Aran was named as having been killed along with Chief Engineer Avram Aran, these two eventually evolved into Chief Rodney Aran and Virginia Ara
  • The Captain is the highest ranking crew member on board the station. He has access to all systems and areas and he presides over all positions, including the AI (minus few situations). All crew members must obey all commands given to them, unless unreasonable (ex. Suicide, putting others in danger, direct or indirect). If the Captain is unable to perform his duties or is killed, the next highest ranking crew member is automatically the Captain. The Captain has the ability to assign IDs. He can assign IDs of all ranks, including another Captain ID.

abstract
  • Captain
  • For quotes, see Steve's Quotes or Monster Quotes.
Also in Blood of the Chozo, Captain Thea Aran was named as having been killed along with Chief Engineer Avram Aran, these two eventually evolved into Chief Rodney Aran and Virginia Aran, the parents of Samus Aran. Thea's rank was unknown, as Virginia was not seen to be involved in any military activities, apart from, possibly, the Afloraltite mining operations on K-2L. Captain A.C. Exeter, the only captain to appear in official Metroid canon, was the leader of the GFMC Task Force Herakles and killed prior to Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.
  • The captain of Flight I-390 was an aeroplane pilot in the employ of iFly Airlines. He was also in a relationship with Cammy Meele, one of the flight attendants. According to another flight attendant, Rhoda Teneiro, he did whatever Meele told him to do and no one else, forcing Teneiro to pretend to have gotten his permission in order for Miles Edgeworth to conduct his investigation. The captain came across as a very laid-back man who did not take his job very seriously. This, combined with a general unhelpfulness in the investigation, resulted in him getting whipped repeatedly by Franziska von Karma.
  • Captain is, presumably, the name of a fictional character in the same cannon as the character Mr. Spock.
  • Captain is a military rank, the equivalent of which is used by the service organizations of many civilizations. The title of Captain is often used by vessel commanders and, as a naval rank, in many earth navies and Starfleet, is above commander but below commodore. As an infantry rank, captains rank subordinate to a major and above a first lieutenant.
  • Commanding Officer/Captain The Commanding Officer has the ultimate responsibility for the safety and well being of his ship and crew and to ensure that the ship's current mission is being satisfactorily executed. • The Captain had several unique moves: Approaching his target, the Captain unsheathes his rapier, before using his sword to slice their legs and then slash them towards the cheek. To finish off his victim, he takes a step backwards and crouches slightly in a fencing stance, before stabbing his rapier through their heart, piercing it to the hilt. While the Captain removes his sword and spins it around to remove the blood, his target's body collapses backwards as he stores away his sword. Stalking up to his target from behind, the Captain places his left hand on their shoulder, before pulling out his sword with his fencing hand. From there, he uses his rapier to impale his victim, piercing his weapon fully through their heart and verifies their death by twisting the blade, making them twitch a final time. Afterward, the Captain pulls out his sword and lets his target's dead body slump forward to the floor. Running over to his target, the Captain pulls out his rapier, just as he elbows them in the face. He then delivers a forceful slash across his victim's neck, before replacing his sword back into its sheath quickly, just in time to see their body spin to the floor. Rushing up to his target from behind, the Captain pushes them onto their knees, before holding them down and removing his rapier from its scabbard. Using his blade, he shoves his sword down into the crevice of his victim's neck, with the sword piercing internal organs along the way. Now sure of their death, the Captain pulls out his rapier and sheathes it, letting his target's dead body fall forward to the ground. Walking up to his seated target, the Captain draws his rapier from his sheath, before knocking their head back with the hilt as he slashes them across the torso. While they are slightly dazed, the Captain takes a hold of their shoulder and forcefully stabs his sword upwards through his victim's chest, impaling them halfway to the blade's hilt. Afterwards, he violently withdraws his sword from their body and stores it back into its scabbard, while his target's head slumps forward and their dead body falls from the bench. Leaping from above, the Captain lands on his target, forcing them to the ground. He then removes his rapier from its scabbard and plunges it into his victim's neck, killing them instantly, before removing his blade and storing it away as he stands up.

He excelled in the science and medical fields becoming top in his class for the healing arts. He was average with a saber though when given a choice he always went with a staff saber (Darth Maul’s type). Despite having the ability to excel he lacked in the historical areas. After several years Captain was chosen by his ideal Master Togo. And so started his Padwan days. Master Togo was one of the best medical Jedi of his time but was in disfavor of the council for his experiments into a life saving drug. The council claim that the drug would disturb the will of the force and so cause unbalance. As such Master Togo and his new padawan, Captain, were sent on the farthest missions to get them away from the temple. This suited both of them fine. It lead to Captain’s travel of most of the galaxy and gaining of invaluable knowledge that he would use in the future. The pair never stopped working on the miracle drug developing many different branches from it including a serum that gave you a boost of energy and one that raised your force awareness. Captain was eventually named a knight but never stopped traveling with Master Togo because of the pair’s unorthodox ways. While out in the Wild area investigating a disturbance, Master Togo made a break through on the miracle drug but not moments later than he had found it, the Vong attacked. Fleeing, the jedi tried to hail the temple for help. The Vong ship soon overtook the jedi and the fighting ensued. Being outnumbered Mater Togo and Captain were forced back into the lab where the Vong brutally cut down Master Togo. Captain, seeing his Master die before him, made a vain attempt at vengeance but was hurled into a batch of the miracle drug. The Vong left Captain for dead and disappeared. Lying lifeless on the ground, the drug covering him, Captain had no energy to follow. The first batch, still being unstable, soaked its way into Captain’s body being absorbed by his cells. It gave Captain the ability to heal minor injuries faster and saved his life that day. Making his way back to the Jedi temple, the council forbade him to hunt down the Vong. They simply gave him a room and told him to meditate. Captain did this for a time and his life slowly patched itself back togther, but he was not the same man. Feeling his time with the Order was done. Captain left the temple, and the only life he knew, to try and find a new beginning.

Because the Kobayashi Maru scenario is a no-win scenario and you can pass it even if you lose, it is not very hard to come through Space Academy and to become a captain. Whether this is an intelligent personnel policy is open to discussion, and it may also be noted that the only person that cheated at this test, James R. Kirk, was given command of the flagship of the Federation, the Enterprise. Not surprisingly he crashed it. ("Space Seed, Part II" and "Surprise: Spock is alive!")
  • In the Royal Navy, the officer in command of any ship is considered the captain even if that officer holds a different rank. Royal Navy officers who rank as captains may serve on ships or on land in naval bases or other service establishments. In the Royal Navy of the time, an officer might have a rank, but not a command. Until the officer had a command, he was "on the beach" and on half-pay. An officer who was promoted from commander was a captain, but until he was given a command, he was on half-pay. Once the captain was given a command, his name was "posted" in the "Naval Gazette."[citation needed] An officer "took post" or was "made post" when he was first commissioned to command a rated vessel — that is, a ship too important to be commanded by a mere commander. Unrated vessels could also in some cases be commanded by post-captains. Being "made post" is portrayed as the most crucial event in an officer's career in both Forester's Horatio Hornblower series and O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin series. A junior post-captain would usually command a frigate or a comparable ship, while a senior post-captain (i.e. a full rank captain) would command a ship of the line. After 1795, when they were first introduced on Royal Navy uniforms, the number and position of epaulettes distinguished between commanders and post-captains of various seniorities. A commander wore a single epaulette on the left shoulder. A post-captain with less than three years seniority wore a single epaulette on the right shoulder, and a post-captain with three or more years seniority wore an epaulette on each shoulder. In the O'Brian series, Aubrey "wets the swab" -- that is, he celebrates his promotion to commander and the acquisition of his "swab" or epaulette with the consumption of copious amounts of alcohol

  • The captains you recruit for your ships can have a large effect on the plunder you gain and the morale of your pirates. Be sure to click on the captain's name in the Recruit Captain edict menu to check the cyclopedia information before committing your hard-earned gold. Check their leadership, courage and notoriety ratings as well as skill ratings in the skills that are important to you. Leadership adds to your pirates' courage to keep fighting in a battle and notoriety reduces the courage of the opposing ship's crew. Courage affects whether your ship will flee or pursue when encountering another ship, so a captain with low courage may get low plunder. The seamanship skill is another important one that affects how many ships you will encounter and how effective your ship will be at boarding another ship and escaping enemy ships that are obviously too powerful. However, this also depends on the seamanship of your crew, so the captain's rating may have minimal effect. If you combine the leadership, courage and notoriety ratings, the best captains are Edward Teach, Henry Morgan and Laurens de Graff, with a total of 17.

  • When Edel was younger, she was known for her generosity and good heart. Everyone considered her delicate and fragile - just like the young lady she should be, so for many, it was a shock when she enlisted in the army of the Knights of Serdin. Amid the military environment full of political intrigue and archaic thoughts, Edel could not afford to look weak, even for a moment. So she had to set aside her sweetness and kindness and adopt a stern and cold attitude, even if acting this way hurt her on the inside. After all, her feelings were second to the honor of her family. If Edel failed, it would be the ultimate verdict for others that the Frosts were nothing more than a decadent and outdated family that had no place or voice in a society dominated by magic. Edel proved everyone who thought this way wrong. The owner of an iron will and an unbeatable determination, she still maintained an incredible dexterity in combat, wielding her rapier with mastery and surprising everyone with the speed with which she could use in conjunction with her pistol, the flintlock. Edel quickly rose in the ranks of the army, thus reaching the rank of Captain. While she managed to prove the value of her family, Edel knew from that moment she needed to police herself even more. Any sign of weakness or insecurity would be used by those who still felt envious of the Frosts. And, as hard as it would be to carry herself for most of her time as a woman of ice, Edel knew she could always go back to being a happy and gentle young lady when she was in the comfort of her home in île de Frost alongside her best friend and twin brother, Adel.

  • According to International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and National Hockey League (NHL) rules, the only player allowed to speak with referees about rule interpretations is the captain, or, if the captain is not on the ice, an alternate captain. Goaltenders may not be designated as captains or alternate captains because of the logistical challenges of having the goaltender relay rules discussions between referees and coaches and then return to the crease. The last NHL goaltender who served as team captain prior to this rule coming into effect was Bill Durnan of the Montreal Canadiens in the 1947-1948 season. Although the rules do not specify any other distinction between the captain and his teammates, in North American professional hockey he has numerous responsibilities to the team. The captain is expected to be a locker room leader and is often considered the primary representative of his team to the public. The captain also represents the players' concerns to management and sometimes is responsible for organizing the team's social functions. Captains are selected by team management; some teams hold a vote among the players to choose the team's captain. Captains are usually veteran players, though on occasion younger players are chosen. The selection is often seen as an important moment for a team, and one that can affect the team's (and newly appointed captain's) performance. NHL teams need not designate the same player as captain from game to game, though most teams do. Some teams name two (co-captains) or three (tri-captains) captains for a season. Some teams rotate captains rather than keep one for an extended period of time. Note during each NHL game, only one player can officially be designated as captain.
