- Sephiroth is an experimental superhuman genius from the planet of Gaia, who has within him the ability to forcibly promote himself to godhood. He just doesn't know it yet.
- In his early years, Sephiroth was a good Jewish boy; excelling in Hebrew school, and assisting Moshe the Rabbi at the altar during Sabbath. Historians attribute his antisocial behavior later in life as likely a result of his desire to rebel against this traditional Jewish upbringing. As a young adolescent, one of his earliest acts of defiance was having his hair permed and dyed silver. Sephiroth was born to be the Ultimate Soldier of the Third Reich, with no other real purpose in life apart from a Military career: little more than a living weapon. Shortly after his bar-mitzvah, he was enrolled into SOLDIER, Shinra Inc.'s private army, consisting of genetically engineered Jewish soldiers who were infused with Mako and DNA from an alien named Jenova. The program would not have worked without the alien, as it was needed to help overcome the soldiers own inherent genetic shortcomings. Otherwise, they would have just been a bunch of neurotic mama's-boys with susceptibility to Tay-Sachs and Asthma. Not having any real chance for a normal childhood, Sephiroth was indoctrinated into the Ultimate Soldier. He proved to be outstanding during his training, a natural at CQC, he also excelled in his firearm and swordsman combat training. And never lost a burping contest. Ever. In 1976, he was given a break from the usual SOLDIER training program and was given the honor of honing his skills even further under the tutorage of the legendary Pai Mei. Shortly before leaving to train with Pai, Sephiroth was given the infamous "Masamune" sword as a gift from one of his superiors. Around this time, Sephiroth was also an avid lacrosse player, having been awarded a full scholarship to the prestegious Midgar Country Day School, playing defense and midfield. He was renowned by his fellow lax bro's for his majestic, silver "lax flow". However, he quit the team after he was forbidden from converting his masamune into a long pole. His former coaches have also been quick to point out that his play on the field was hampered by the fact that he took his teammates advice to wear under-armour a little too literally; wearing his trademark SOLDIER-issued field armor under/instead of his uniform. Nevertheless, the lacrosse subculture had a lasting impact on the young Sephiroth; when asked by Cloud Strife as to why he murdered Aeris Gainsborough during the winter of 1997, Sephiroth's reply was simply: "U mad bro?" Even to this day, Sephiroth is known to always be in attendance at Every Dave Matthews Band concert whenever their tour stops in Midgar. In fact, it was he himself who personally funded their free concert held at the North Crater to benefit the relief fund for the victims of Mako poisoning (VMP).

He's loved by Extha, and is a very powerful character in the Summer Contest, but many others on Board 8 think he's overrated. Indeedy. As cool as he is sometimes, he's sometimes grossly overrated as hell and many, including myself, hate him for that. One of the greatest moments in Contest history was when Solid Snake edged out Sephiroth for 3rd place in the 2006 Character Battle at the last update.

Enquanto cumpria uma missão nos reatores de Nibelheim, Sephiroth se depara com uma sala cheia de cobaias humanas confinadas em energia Mako, tanto tempo confinadas ali elas perderam os traços humanos e não passavam de seres mutantes. O maior SOLDIER da Shinra se assustara, ele sabia e sentia que não era alguém como os outros SOLDIERs, cogitava a possibilidade de ser uma aberração como eles: Nada mais que uma cobaia em laboratório que deixara de ser humana. E a porta com as inscrições com o nome “Jenova” apenas trazia mais desespero ao seu coração. Transtornado Sephiroth invadiu a biblioteca abandonada de uma mansão usada como laboratório pela Shinra e leu incessantemente todos os relatos das experiências, sem cessar e sem falar ou dar atenção a ninguém. Seu desespero aumentava a cada livro que lia, não cessando nem para comer, dormir e nem mesmo quando a luz do laboratório acabara... Ele parecia possuído e logo encontrara a verdade a qual tanto procurou. A partir dai Sephiroth mudou completamente, seus olhos não exibiam mais melancolia e sim uma confiança absoluta, sua face antes cheia de expressões vazias agora mostrava um sorriso diabólico. Sephirorth descobrira que fora criado a partir de Jenova, um organismo encontrado a mais de dois mil anos... E desde então o maior SOLDIER enlouquecera... Se considerava agora o escolhido por sua mãe, para dar continuidade ao que seria os planos de Jenova e para se tornar um deus! Ele aparenta não se interresar pelo Kingdom Hearts e na jornada se Sora e seus amigos,mas demonstrou um certo interesse pela Keyblade de Sora quando eles se enfrentaram.Aparentemente seu unico objetivo é enfrentar Cloud.Ele afirma que foi reesusitado pela trevas de Cloud.
