- The Sunrider, named after famed Jedi Nomi Sunrider, is the flagship of the New Jedi Order. It is a unique design, developed by Kuat Systems Engineering on the authority of Grandmaster Daer'Gunn, for the exclusive use of the Jedi. Since it is meant to embody the ideals of the Jedi, the Sunrider focuses on strong defensive tactics. Although smaller than an Imperial Mark II, the vessel has heavier armor and more powerful shields than the Imperial craft, allowing it to withstand greater punishment than other ships of similar size. A large bank of engines on the rear of the ship compensates for the heavy armor so that the Sunrider can still achieve decent speeds. The armament of the Sunrider also reflects the Jedi commitment to peace. Ion cannons and point-defense laser cannons are prominent, although it is also equipped with turbolasers and warhead launchers if it becomes necessary to dole out some damage. The warhead launchers in particular serve many functions since they can also be used to intercept enemy missiles. Perhaps one of the most important reasons for their inclusion is so that they can be used to deploy Shadow Bombs if the situation calls for it.
