  • Daffy Dumas Duck (also known by Sheldon, Idiot Eyes or Armando) is an animated cartoon character produced by Warner Bros. Animation. He has appeared in cartoon series such as Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies, where he usually has been depicted as a rival and occasional best friend of Bugs Bunny. • Daffy Duck is the deuteragonist in the Warner Bros. Daffy starred in 133 shorts in the Golden Age, third amongst Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies cartoons, behind Bugs Bunny's 166 appearances and Porky Pig's 159 appearances. Even though he used to be a "wild, crazy, looney and screwy duck" back in the late 30s, 40s and early 50s but now he is a changed duck who is still greedy and mean-tempered.
  • Daffy Duck is the deuteragonist of the Looney Tunes franchise. He has been a regular cast of the mainstream heroes of Looney Tunes but he is not really a hero, he is more accurately termed as an anti-hero and at times can even become a leading villain. By no means malicious or threatening, the troublesome Daffy can be credited with some rather cruel and unusual incidents throughout his career and has antagonized several notable heroes, such as Bugs Bunny and Speedy Gonzales. It could be argued that the same holds true for all Looney Tunes characters, as, with the exception of 100% good Porky Pig and 100% villainous Yosemite Sam (though note that villainous does not necessarily mean evil) all of them have been consistently portrayed as anti-heroes or anti-villains.

Daffy would appear in 129 shorts in the Golden Age of Animation, making him the third most frequently-appearing character in the series, behind Porky Pig's 152 and Bugs Bunny's 166 appearances.

  • During World War II Daffy was "drafted" and appears as a mascot for the 600th Bomb Squadron US Army Air Forces Daffy does have a gift for parody-he has appeared as: Western Cowboy Hero a parody of the Lone Ranger and Hopalong Cassidy Duck Twacy a parody of Dick Tracy Sgt Joe Munday a pardoy of Sgt Joe Friday of Dragnet Stupor Duck a parody of Superman Duck Dogers a parody of Buck_Rogers Robin Hood Daffy a parody of Robin Hood The_Scarlet_Pumpernickel a parody of The_Scarlet_Pimpernel In 1988 Daffy stared opposite rival Walt Disney cartoon star Donald Duck who duel each other with pianos in the movie Who_Framed_Roger_Rabbit and also starred in Daffy_Duck%27s_Quackbusters which included a short cartoon The_Night_of_the_Living_Duck"-the last time Mel Blanc voiced cartoons. In Tiny Toon Adventures Daffy was part of the Loon University staff and was the hero of Plucky Duck As of May 6, 2011, Daffy appears in The Looney Tunes Show.

In Gremlins 2: the New Batch, Daffy attempts to steal Bugs and Porky's thunder, with the WB shield and the "That's All Folks" sign, only for the animating staff to torment him into not sticking his beak in anymore. In Space Jam, Daffy is a mere supporting character, not as much involved as Michael, Bugs, Lola and Stan. In Looney Tunes: Back in Action, Daffy and Bugs are the protagonists behind DJ and Kate, whom they team up with to locate the Blue Monkey and fight the Chairman. In Duck Dodgers, Daffy is the fully fledged protagonist, under the guise of Dodgers. In Bah, Humduck: a Looney Tunes Christmas, Daffy is the protagonist, similiar to Scrooge. In The Looney Tunes Show, Daffy is the deuteragonist once again. He lives with Bugs in a suburban neighborhood, and makes Tina Russo his girlfriend for the first time. He has a few girlfriends including formerly Melissa Duck and currently Tina Russo Duck.

However, Daffy Duck has gone one step further than Bugs Bunny or Foghorn Leghorn and actually passed from the occasional anti-hero to the occasional villain; which is why he gets a page on this Wiki. Daffy Duck is often portrayed as a selfish, mean-spirited, attention-stealing braggart and mostly as a greedy con-artist who craves for fame and riches and who does not really care about honesty. he was Used to Be a Crazy and Screwball. se designated victim is the gullible Porky Pic, whom he tricks in selling him many useless things, often with the goal of causing him troubles, so that he could sell him a more expensive and not more useful "remedy". For some examples of Daffy Duck at his worst one should look to the cartoon "Well Worn Daffy" - in this cartoon Daffy's mean-spiritedness is taken to its extremes and he outright denies a group of mice access to desperately needed water out of sheer malice: this is without a doubt one of the most blatantly cruel things Daffy has done (and, to be fair, is slightly out of character). He also hates Bugs Bunny and in the cartoon Rabbit Fire , Daffy tried to get Bugs killed by Elmer Fudd. It should still be remembered that, while Daffy may be mostly evil, he has done plenty of heroic acts which have shown that he has a good side to him. In Duck Dodgers, for example, he is always the hero. An idiot hero, but still certainly not an anti-hero (there is one exception, see below).
  • The Daffy Duck has been released in the following 1/64 scale versions:
  • Daffy is voiced by both Jeff Bergman and Greg Burson on Tiny Toon Adventures. In the Season 1 premiere, The Looney Beginning, Daffy appears with a new film idea, Honey I Shrunk the Laundry, only to have it rejected by the network. Later in the episode, he appears as Plucky's mentor in Spotlight Stealing classes. Daffy appears briefly in Prom-ise Her Anything alongside Bugs Bunny at the end of Taz's commercial for his tuxedo store, Crazy Tazzie's House of Tuxes. After the commercial was filmed, he and Bugs captured Taz and put him in a straightjacket. Bugs also mentions to Buster that he can swipe one of his routines to repay him for helping him with his dance moves. In the Season 1 episode, Animaniacs, Daffy appears along with Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig as judges for the Acme Looniversity animation festival. Although the Looney Tunes are not too keen on seeing student films (Daffy claims it to be Bugs' revenge for all the Rabbit Season signs he puts up each year), Bugs doesn't give them much of a choice. The shortened version of The Plucky Duck Story becomes a refreshing change of pace after Shirley the Loon's 17-&-1/2-hour long film Song of the Loon, and thus wins first prize. In Fields of Honey, Daffy is briefly shown at a meeting held by Babs at Acme Looniversity with a majority of the other Looney Tunes teaching staff. Babs is so intent and overzealous on them building a "really big theater" and show nothing but Honey cartoons so that people would come and watch because the "strange voice" (revealed later as Bosko) told her to do so, that she appears to be going mad (even drooling over the table). They promptly send her to the nurse's office to see Elmyra, who also concludes that she is had gone crazy. In the Inside Plucky Duck episode segment, "Wild Takes Class", Daffy is the teacher of Advanced Wild Takes Class. Plucky practices some of his advanced wild takes, which Buster doesn't think is a good idea, as Bugs said they have to learn the basic wild takes before moving on to the advanced ones. Plucky, determined to prove he is better at doing wild takes than Bugs ever was, tries the Clampett Corneal Catastrophe and is stuck as a giant eyeball with legs as a result. Daffy can later be seen in the Teacher's Lounge, having coffee with Bugs as Plucky and Buster bounce through the Teacher's Lounge and across Acme Looniversity. In the Season 1 episode, Who Bopped Bugs Bunny?, Daffy attends Bugs' award ceremony, but is jealous of both Bugs' 1958 Shloskar and the fact that Bugs is getting another award that night. Sappy Stanley sends a robot copy of himself onstage and disguises himself as a female to kock out Bugs and steal his Shloskar undetected. He also spray-paints a fake award to frame Daffy for the crime, as Daffy has always been jealous of Bugs. Daffy gets arrested, but the Tiny Toons, knowing Daffy was innocent, try to solve the mystery for themselves. As Buster and Babs pester Stanley, Plucky Duck and Hamton J. Pig try unsuccessfully to rescue Daffy by disguising themselves as ninjas. Ungrateful that Plucky and Hamton tried to rescue him, Daffy tells them "Nice try, nin-jerks!" Plucky whispers to Hamton, "Next semester, I'm getting Foghorn for my mentor". Despite the fact that Stanley gets arrested at the end of the cartoon, Daffy, Plucky, and Hamton are not immediately released and are stuck making license plates. After making a license plate that says THE END, Daffy complains, "This ending is despicable!" In the wraparound to the New Character Day double-length episode segment, The Return of Pluck Twacy, Daffy, as Duck Twacy, auditions to be a new character on Tiny Toon Adventures. When Buster and Babs suspect that they've seen him before, he tries to prove to them that he is a new character by showing them a videotape of his performance. In the following episode segment, he tells the class about one of his adventures as Duck Twacy. Plucky walks up to his desk to get his autograph, but he accidentally slips on a banana peel that Shirley tosses on the floor. In Plucky's dream sequence, Daffy, as Duck Twacy, appears in a bubble to give Plucky advice on how to stop Ticklepuss from tickling him. Daffy is mentioned in the Season 2 episode, Henny Youngman Day, while he was sick, Henny Youngman took his place. In Two-Tone Town, Daffy appears at the beginning in a promo for Acme Oop! in a clip from his cartoon, Robin Hood Daffy. Later, Daffy appears as the conductor of an orchestra consisting of other Looney Tunes. Daffy as well as the others in the orchestra are wearing light blue tuxedos and about to perform in front of a full crowd. Buster (in Robin Hood attire and intentions to steal the musical symbols) interrupts the orchestra, but a slightly annoyed Daffy denies his interruption and commands them to perform anyways. Giant musical symbols appear above the orchestra as they play, and Buster begins stealing the symbols, infuriating Daffy further. The angered duck battles Buster atop the symbols, as the others continue to play. Daffy loses the battle when he falls and Taz smashes in his head with his cymbals. Buster conducts a final note as the orchestra perform for him.
