  • Claxton Welch (born July 3, 1947 in Portland, Oregon) is a former NFL running back. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys out of Oregon in 1969. After his first season, he was sent to the New Orleans Saints for one game in 1970 before returning and earning a Super Bowl ring as a member of the 1972 Super Bowl VI-winning Dallas Cowboys under coach Tom Landry. He left the league for the next year and returned to play one more year, with the New England Patriots in 1973. He finished with 83 career rushing yards and 7 yards receiving.
