By the end of the Human-Covenant War, a coalition of Insurrectionists made the planet their home by setting up habitats and turning the inhospitable world into a hiding place. With the help of a few independent Kig-Yar clans, they were able to construct entire townships and defensible bases, turning the rifts and canyons left by plasma bombardment into convenient subterranean settlements. The aftermath of the war led to Firenze becoming a haven of desperation for other species as well, with a sizeable influx of Sangheili seeking to escape conflict on their homeworld and colonies. Most of Firenze's original colonists were of Italian descent; however, it has since been colonized by humans of every nationality and ethnicity, though its Italian origins remain evident through the names of its major cities, continents, geographical features, and even its moons. It is often confused with Venezia due to its turbulent history and has been incorrectly blamed for crimes committed by Venezia-based insurgencies more than once since it emerged from obscurity. Though reclaiming ownership of all wayward colonies is a goal of the UNSC, Firenze's lack of strategic value and necessary resources have resulted in little in the way of actual attempts to exert authority over the colony. The Office of Naval Intelligence keeps several operatives based on the planet, but allows the status quo to continue while maintaining the balance between factions to avoid the actuality of a zealously militant group in power.

  • Firenze es uno de los centauros que habitan en el Bosque Prohibido. Es educado y, al contrario de otros centauros, como Bane, es amigo de los magos. También se le describe como un centauro hermoso y apuesto, de largo cabello rubio y ojos azules muy claros.
  • Firenze l'è un ridente paesone di circa 500 o 500.000 abitanti (dipende dalle stime) situato appena al di fuori della Terronia. La popolazione è costituita da persone snob, rompicoglioni e polemiche all'inverosimile e di intelligenza, secondo loro, superiore alla media nazionale (ma ci vole anche poco). La città è famosa soprattutto per aver dato i natali a Guido Cavalcanti e a Bud Spencer, celebre pianeta della costellazione di Orione, e per aver ospitato Galileo Galilei, idraulico dal nome curioso, autore della contestata Divina Commedia. Ma soprattutto per essere patria del fiume più pulito del mondo, l'Arno, nominato alla "River Award" di Milano sul Gange, "Best river with dead rats". La leggenda narra che questa regione, un tempo popolosa (circa 501 o 500.001 abitanti), subì una forte emigrazione di massa da parte degli abitanti, delusi e schifati.
