  • Sonic X-Treme was a cancelled Sonic game, likely SEGA's answer to Crash Bandicoot and Super Mario 64. It was intended for release around Christmas 1996. However, it got stuck in development hell as many of the game's developers fell sick soon before release.
  • It would have also marked the debut of Tiara Boobowski and Gazebo, characters for the game only. Other than Tiara and Gazebo, the three main characters would have been playable: Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. In 2006, nearly ten years after the game´s supposed release, an anonymous collector bought an early test engine of the game for 2,500 dollars at an auction. Zones: Jade Gully Crystal Frost Red Sands Blue Ocean Metal Blade Galaxy Fortress Planned bosses would have been Nack the Weasel and Metal Sonic, the latter being the final boss.
  • Sonic X-treme is an unreleased platform game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It was originally developed by Sega for the Mega Drive/Genesis but was moved to the Sega 32X and eventually to the Sega Saturn and intended to be released around Christmas of 1996, but after many problems it was finally cancelled in 1997. Had it been finished, it would have been the first fully 3D Sonic game and the first original Sonic title developed for the Sega Saturn. This was the second Sonic game to be cancelled on the Sega Saturn, the other being Sonic Saturn.
