  • Knuckles' Chaotix (カオティクス Kaotikusu?, lit. "Chaotix") is a 1995 release for the Sega 32X. It is the only Sonic-related game released for Sega 32X. The game features a new combi system, which allows the player to use two characters at once, who are joined together with an elastic ring (also referred to as the ring leash). The game introduces the group later known as the Chaotix to the Sonic series, composed of Vector the Crocodile, Espio the Chameleon and Charmy Bee. It also includes the brief return of Mighty the Armadillo.

  • Knuckles' Chaotix, in Japan called simply Chaotix, is a platform game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, developed by Sega of Japan rather than Sonic Team, and published by Sega for the Sega 32X. The game was released in North America in March 1995, in Japan on April 21, 1995 and finally in Europe in May 1995. Despite demand from fans, the game's only "re-release" has been through GameTap's PC service. It was originally going to be in Sonic Gems Collection but it was not included for unknown reasons. (Possibly emulation issues) However, an entire section of the museum of Sonic Gems Collection is dedicated to this game. It is the only Sonic-related game to be released for the Sega 32X and its stand out features include its 2D sprite-based graphics and simultaneous two player gameplay.

  • The plots are different in both the Japanese and English versions of the game. The Japanese story states that a mysterious island rose out of the sea after the events of Sonic & Knuckles and Doctor Robotnik found mysterious "Chaos Rings" there. Chaotix arrived on the island separately and were captured by Robotnik. A curious Knuckles arrives, frees Espio and begins the adventure to stop Robotnik getting hold of all the Chaos Rings. The English language version is slightly different. It states that Knuckles is the guardian of Carnival Island and Robotnik has arrived to steal the island's power emerald. A visiting Chaotix are placed in a machine and Knuckles realises he can free one team member at a time with the Link-Rings.
  • The Knothole Freedom Fighters arrive at a new amusement park on the Floating Island. Sonic notices that every Freedom Fighter they've ever met is here, including Knuckles. Knuckles grumpily protests against being called a Freedom Fighter, only for the group to be greeted by Renfield T. Rodent, the manager of the park. He eagerly encourages them to head into the Hall of Mirrors. The group heads inside and are overcome by a flash of light. The Freedom Fighters are imprisoned behind the mirrors and Knuckles' spiked fists, super strength, and gliding abilities are magically removed. Dr. Robotnik appears behind the glass, telling Knuckles that it was all a trap he set with Renfield's help. Knuckles tries to rush at him, but is unable to do anything in his powerless state. Robotnik lets him go, wanting someone to witness his ultimate victory. "The Chaos Effect" - Part Two Left a helpless witness to Robotnik's triumph, Knuckles complains about his situation on the outskirts of the amusement park. A bee zips by him and introduces himself as Charmy Bee. Charmy's friend, Espio the Chameleon, reveals he was hiding in a tree nearby and listening to Charmy and Knuckles chat. Just then, Vector the Crocodile loudly barges in on their conversation, rapping about himself until Espio snatches his headphones. Espio asks if Vector could even hear them with those headphones on when Mighty the Armadillo bursts out of the nearby cliff. Mighty introduces his friends, Heavy and Bomb to the group. Knuckles is wary at first, but the two robots explain that the Power Gems that power their systems gave them free will. They were disgusted by Robotnik's plan to imprison the Freedom Fighters and headed to the Floating Island to help free them. They reveal that the Power Gems also power the mirrors holding the Freedom Fighters, and that they brought a supply of Power Gems with them. Knuckles is sure that, with the Power Gems on their side, they can defeat Robotnik. "The Chaos Effect" - Part Three Robotnik is complimenting Renfield on a job well done and celebrating when all of the park's rides turn on at the same time. Realizing Knuckles must have gathered reinforcements, Robotnik sends Mecha Sonic after them. Knuckles realizes his plan to distract Robotnik with the rides backfired and decides to charge Mecha Sonic. The group delivers a beat down, but Mecha Sonic uses a Power Gem to grow to immense size. Knuckles uses one of the pilfered Power Gems to grow to the same size and fight Mecha Sonic. They crash into the Hall of Mirrors, freeing the Freedom Fighters. With the Hall of Mirrors broken, Knuckles powers return, and he easily smashes Mecha Sonic to pieces. Renfield is captured while Robotnik escapes. Sonic suggests that Knuckles' friends form a team, and despite their objections, Sonic dubs Knuckles and his new allies "The Chaotix."
