(TOS comic: "Countdown to Darkness, Number Four") In 2266, Captain James T. Kirk attempted to governor of the Alpha V colony to arrange to drop off Charles Evans at the colony. However, during the attempt, Charlie shorted out the communications station which prevented Lieutenant Nyota Uhura from raising the governor. (TOS episode & novelization: Charlie X) Commander Kor briefly served as the Klingon military governor of Organia during the brief Federation-Klingon War in 2267. (TOS episode & novelization: Errand of Mercy) By 2270, Robert Wesley had left Starfleet to serve as governor of the Mantilles colony. (TAS episode & novelization: One of Our Planets is Missing) In 2270, Skooka Dawson served as the governor of the mining colony on Skagway. His job also entails at least one of the following: a) a scandal, b) messing around with the state's transportation, education, and health system until everyone's literally sick, or c) running for President. However, some Governors have gone above and beyond the call of duty: 1. * The Governator, Ah-nuld Schwarzneggar. (That's a nice long last name, "black" twice in a vulgar manner.) 2. * Eliot Spitzer. He was the butt of no fewer than four Playboy Party Jokes in one issue of Playboy, all of which concerns the fun he had with hookers. After all, he spent 80 grand on hookers because he had a Spitzer of a wife but he desired a swallower, he was known to be a Democrat because he was caught with a woman, his wife stood by him as he resigned so she could qualify for the Presidency on the Democratic ticket, and he made the great discovery that one can slow down a prostitute by putting a governor on her. 3. * Jesse "Ace" Ventura. A wrestler for governor? Were the Minnesota people kidding? 4. * Jim Mcgreevey the Gay American. He was doing somewhat blah until he decided that being gay was cause for him to resign, and THEN everyone got interested. 5. * Ronald Reagan. He was a sucky Governor before he became a sucky President. See Ah-nuld, there's a precedent for wooden actors to go around letting people down as Governor of California! 6. * Hillary Clinton. She was handling all the papers while Bill was handling all the dames, so she might as well get the credit for Arkansaw. 7. * Dumbya. He couldn't run a baseball team right, he couldn't run an oil company right, he couldn't run Texas right, and he sure as heck couldn't run America right. 8. * John McCain and Barack Obama. Those two have been marvelous governors of the State of Confusion, what with their promising stuff they never did and flip-flopping and "gentlemanly" mud-slinging. But then again, they're politicians, what do you expect?

In Lovia, the term Governor refers to the elected executive of one of the five Lovian states, elected in biannual state elections. Even in speech, the term is often abbreviated to Gov, as opposed to Dep (Deputy Governor). Governors in Lovia have limited powers and responsibilities, especially since the 2010 State Reform. The Constitution prescribes that, "in general, the competencies of the state level are limited to local government that does not interfere with federal law and government."

He then takes advantage of their defenselessness by piercing his victim's stomach with his rapier and withdrawing it quickly, watching them crumple to the floor, dead. Approaching his target from behind with his rapier drawn, the Governor swiftly slashes it diagonally across their back. As they react, he spins the blade skillfully in his hand and cleanly stabs them up through the back, impaling his victim's heart from behind and causing them to collapse to the floor, where they die of blood loss as he puts away his sword. Running up to his target, the Governor pulls out his rapier, just as he elbows them in the face. He then delivers a forceful slash across their neck, before replacing his sword back by his side quickly, just in time to see his victim's dead body spin to the floor. Rushing towards his target, the Governor thrusts his rapier into their back, before slowly and painfully forcing the blade through his victim until it fully penetrates them, the hilt adjacent to their body. As they stare down at the blade, the Governor roughly pulls it free, with his target collapsing dead to the ground shortly afterwards. The Governor grabs his seated target's foot and drags them off the bench, until their head rests against it. Before his victim can do anything to defend themselves, the Governor forcefully kicks them in the face, violently sending their head backwards and breaking his target's neck on the bench behind them. Leaping onto his target from above, the Governor unsheathes his sword in mid-air. When he lands, he forces them onto their back and impales them in their heart with his rapier, before he stands and leaves his victim lying dead on the floor.

  • The Governor is the chief executive of a State in the United States government.
  • A governor (from French gouverneur) is a governing official, usually the executive (at least nominally, to different degrees also politically and administratively) of a non-sovereign level of government, ranking under the head of state. In federations, a governor may be the title of each appointed or elected politician who governs a constituent state. In some countries the heads of the constitutive states, provinces, communities and regions may be titled Governor, although this is less common in parliamentary systems such as in some European nations and many of their former colonies, which use titles such as President of the Regional Council in France and Minister-President in Germany, where in some states there are governorates (German: ="de" xml:lang="de" >Regierungsbezirke) as sub-state administrative regions. Other countries using different titles for sub-national units include Spain and Switzerland. The title also lies, historically, to executive officials acting as representatives of a chartered company which has been granted exercise of sovereignty in a colonial area, such as the British HEIC or the Dutch VOC. These companies operate as a major state within a state with its own armed forces. There can also be non-political governors: high ranking officials in private or similar governance such as commercial and non-profit management, styled governor(s), who simply govern an institution, such as a corporation or a bank. For example, in the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth countries there are prison governors ("warden" in the United States), school governors and bank governors. The adjective pertaining to a governor is gubernatorial, from the Latin root gubernare.
  • Governor, or governour, was the title given to a governing official, usually the executive (at least nominally, to different degrees also politically and administratively) of a non-sovereign level of government, ranking under the head of state; furthermore the title applied to officials with a similar mandate as representatives of a chartered company which had been granted exercise of sovereignty, even with its own armed forces, in a colonial area. England appointed governors to its colonies in the Caribbean, including Port Royal, which was at one time governed by Weatherby Swann before Lord Cutler Beckett assumed control. Other colonies, French, Spanish and Dutch, were also ruled by governors.
  • A governor was a political position used throughout the galaxy. For the most part, governors were the chief executives of their delegated territory, enforcing laws and sitting as head of local police or military units.
  • A governor is a high-ranking politician who presides over a particular state or principality.

Any of these deeds can be given to the pirate of their choice, but they immediately transfer to the new governor if another is appointed. The palace deed also conveys the power to change the tax slider. In some ways, a governor is an island-owning flag's ambassador to the public. Their name is on the Island tab, and it's likely that they will receive many questions concerning the island and their flag's plans for it. The governor also has the power to change the news on the Island Events tab of the noticeboard. Governors can be from the island's controlling flag or outside of it as long as the royalty votes the change through. On subscriber oceans, governors were previously thought to have had to be subscribers, but this was disproven by Notorious Fandango in their governor-go-round event. When an island changes hands in a blockade or by transfer, the monarch of the controlling flag is installed as the default governor. Potential governors can be proposed using the "Propose Governor" button on the controlling flag's info page. A majority vote of flag royalty is required to change governor.
