abstract	The Third Battle of Vulcanis was a Dominion offensive against the Federation member world of Vulcan during the Dominion War in 2374. (LUG RPG: The Dominion War Sourcebook: The Fires of Armageddon) Following their victory at the Tibor Nebula the Dominion had the necessary supply lines to against strike at Vulcan. Days after their victory a fleet of nearly 400 warships move to attack the system. At Vulcan, Admiral Salok prepares the four Starfleet fleets and Klingon Defense Force squadrons to defend the system. Establishing his main defensive perimeter outside the system's Oort cloud in the hope to spare the Vulcanis system from any more damage Salok also hides part of his force within the cloud. The Dominion attack the smaller force and a brutal battle rages for several hours. Salok finally decides to launch his trap, withdrawing his force. The Dominion fleet believing victory to be with reach pursue and her ambushed by the hidden forces within the Oort cloud. The "retreating" Starfleet and Klingon ships quickly swing around and reengage the enemy. After another hour of fighting the Dominion fleet is forced to retreat. Losses on both sides were high. The Dominion lose over half their fleet in the engagement, while Vulcan's defenders suffer 37% causalities. This assault also marks the final Dominion offensive against the Vulcan system for the rest of the war.
