In the years after the Alsakan Crisis, the Hutt Empire fought a number of conflicts in their attempt to dominate galactic markets. The Empire participated in the Hutt War after accusing the Galactic Republic of attempting to encroach upon Hutt territory. Other conflicts included those with the Taung, various other criminal organizations, and independent planets. While formerly led by a High Council of the most powerful Hutts, in the second year of the Hutt War the then-Chairman Tusa Ujalli Hai made a grab for total power, converting the oligarchy into a dictatorship and christening himself the first Hutt Emperor.
