  • The League is directly opposed to the legal system, which they view as "corrupt." They are likely the most dangerous foes ever faced by members of the Justice League, especially Batman. The leader of the League is the infamous Ra's al Ghul, who has came into conflict with Batman on numerous occasions.
  • "League of Assassins" is the fifth episode of the second season of Arrow, and the twenty-eighth episode overall. It aired on November 6, 2013.
  • The League of Assassins (also known as the Society of Shadows, the Society of Assassins, and the League of Shadows) is an international cult-like organization of professional assassins and trained killers that followed their founder and leader, Ra's al Ghul. They are a terrorist group that fight Batman and other DC superheroes from time to time.
  • Through the years, the League sought out the best killers in all manner of disciplines, from martial artists to snipers. Every member added to the league gave up their life, sworn to the Demon's Head. Only assassins who have already completed a previous hit can be considered for League membership, and its roster is kept strictly confidential from public eyes.
  • The League of Assassins are a bunch of ninjas who are supposedly the world's top-trained killers, despite the fact that they've never killed or even beaten anybody in a single fight ever. Maybe like, an old lady or two. But the second you put a mask on, you're capable of beating them all up at once. And it's okay if they get killed. You can just go get some more of them from Costco. They are the bodyguards of Ra's al Ghul, immortal eco-terrorist, and his daughter Talia who mainly use them when they need somebody to get beaten up by Batman or his lackeys.
  • The League of Assassins was founded by Ra's al Ghul (exactly when is unknown) to be "the fang that protects the head" (Batgirl #67, 2005). Members of the League demonstrated willingness to die at a word from Ra's. They have included some of the most dangerous assassins in the world including Lady Shiva, David Cain, and master archer Merlyn. For much of its current history any member to fail in an assassination was in turn targeted by the League (and indeed, one of its best-known members, the master-archer Merlyn was eventually forced to flee from the League, fearing for his life, having failed to assassinate Batman). In more recent years this policy has apparently relaxed somewhat.

In more recent years this policy has apparently relaxed somewhat. Ebeneezer Darrk, aka Doctor Darrk, was the first known individual assigned to head the League of Assassins by Ra's al Ghul. Darrk himself was seconded by The Sensei, a martial arts master from Hong Kong. Although many of the League's leaders over the years have been accomplished martial artists, Daark himself did not depend on physical prowess, and as an assassin he instead relied upon careful planning and manipulation, ambushes and death traps, as well as a variety of cleverly concealed weapons and poisons. Although the League apparently had an inner circle of elite fighters as well as a large number of warriors trained in the martial arts, the League during Daark's tenure as leader reflected his personal methodology. Following a "falling out" with Ra's (the exact details of which were never made clear) Darrk kidnapped Ra's daughter, Talia Al Ghul. Batman became involved in this matter while attempting to bring the League to justice for a number of recent killings. Although he had connected the League to several assassinations over the years, all previous attempts to investigate had met dead-ends. Batman rescued Talia (the first time the two would meet, laying the foundation for all their future interaction) and Darrk died while trying to kill them.

They are the bodyguards of Ra's al Ghul, immortal eco-terrorist, and his daughter Talia who mainly use them when they need somebody to get beaten up by Batman or his lackeys. For some reason, anybody else who gets trained by them is totally badass. Besides Batman, there's Jason Todd, Batgirl, Damian Wayne, Lady Shiva, and even Bronze Tiger before he went through villain rehab. But they don't even make nametags for the rest of these guys. That would be kind of like naming livestock you know is going to get made into hamburgers. The retirement benefits, however, are great. To be fair, they did burn down Wayne Manor that one time. But even then, they still couldn't kill Alfred. Alfred! He beat one of them down with a shovel! An old man in a suit! With a shovel! These guys are almost as bad as Putties.
