The quickest way to the airport from the city centre is by hovercraft and bus (about 40 mins). The train from Oita to Hakata Station in Fukuoka is a sonic and costs about 2,500 yen one way. It takes about 2 hours. You can take a subway to the airport from Hakata Station. The JR Kyushuu website has the timetable and various routes.

- The largest department store in Oita.
- A large department Store. Loft in the basement. A nice beer garden on the roof. Less expensive than Tokiwa.
