Synopsis
  • Superman breaks into the S.T.A.R. Labs facility in Queensland Park and steals the inert body of his doppelgänger. He is convinced that the sudden appearance of this twin Superman is the result of Mister Mxyzptlk and his is determined to prove it once and for all. Elsewhere, members of the Daily Planet staff as well as the Metropolis SCU grow concerned over Superman's recent erratic behavior. Lois keeps her thoughts to herself, but she is just as worried about Superman as everyone else. The SCU however, take a more proactive position. Inspector Maggie Sawyer has her squad suit up in their new Simm-Bot battle suits and track Superman down to Queensland Park. Superman fights the SCU, and acts more aggressively than he has done in the past. Meanwhile, a serial killer named Ramsey Murdoch stalks a telephone company representative named Sylvia Feltman to her home He accuses her of being a "deceiver" and then brutally murders her. Back at the fight scene, Superman easily deflects the various attacks from the Simm-Bots and launches into them. He is ready to pulverize Maggie Sawyer, just to prove that she is simply a figment of his imagination, when suddenly Mister Mxyzptlk shows up. Mxy confesses that he has nothing do with the fake Superman corpse, but "tips his derby" to whoever is truly responsible for such a prank. Once Superman realizes that Mxyzptlk has nothing to do with the situation at hand, he releases his hold on Sawyer. Meanwhile on New Genesis, Brainiac breaks free of his prison cell. He confesses to scheming against the Man of Steel and cannot wait to see his plans come to fruition.
