  • Testumaru the Mighty is a character who loves to stroke his ego through completing small tasks and challenging others to them. When he notices an Oni, the player, entering the Onigashima Training Grounds, he tells the player to give up since only he can defeat this dungeon and, in jest, tells him to clear Daiku Cave. He realizes that this Oni doesn't back down, but accepts the challenge and clears Daiku Cave. With the challenge defeated Tetsumaru decides to get back at this strong Oni by heading off to train and one up the player. When he returns and meets the Oni again he boasts about his accomplishment of clearing Abou Forest on Hard. He then challenges the Oni to one him up by defeating Daiku Cave again on Hell difficulty. This time Tetsumaru is completely serious of this new challenge and expects big things from his new friend, the player. Again, the player returns victorious and unlike the first time of disbelief he congratulates the player for the accomplishment and promises the player to return stronger than before. He heads off to Kikaigahara, where he trains his hardest to surpass the player with a new reason to train. He wants to catch up to the player not to show off, but pressure the player to become even stronger in turn. When he does return to the player, Tetsumaru is amazed at how he has passed his own limits of strength and talks about the accomplishment of clearing the Cave of Screams on Hell difficulty. Knowing his limits of not being able to defeat Den of Karma, he challenges the player to complete this final dungeon to prove that he will continue becoming stronger and Tetsumaru stakes his own sword, Ichimonjimuneoki, for the prize of this challenge. The player returns to Testumaru and he awards him, his very own sword, which has been with him for years while he trained. This final challenge was not made in spite of the player, but to allow Tetsumaru the move on from his life of adventure to a simpler life. His strength is at his limit and pushing any harder to keep up with the player would only cause himself harm. With his sword entrusted to the player, Tetsumaru is happy to head off to look for a job that will require his special skills he has worked on for the short time he has met the player.
