LeClair played his entire National Hockey League career with the Montreal Canadiens. He played three seasons with the Habs, 1954–55 — 1956–57. He is often credited with winning two Stanley Cup in 1956 and 1957 However, LeClair name is not on the Stanley Cup in 1957. In 1957 Jackie LeClaire played 47 games for Montreal, qualifing to be engraved on it. However, Montreal left LeClaire's name off the cup, because he was sent to the minors before the playoffs started. He never played another NHL game. He played in the minor pros until his retirement in 1968. LeClair was the player-coach of the New Haven Blades from 1964 to 1967.
