Undrafted by the NHL, Centomo was signed as a free agent by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2001. He turned pro with the Memphis RiverKings and the St. John's Maple Leafs in 2001-02 and was called up by the Leafs to replace the injured Curtis Joseph for one game that season. He then spent three more seasons with St. John's. In 2004 Centomo was signed as a free agent by the Calgary Flames but did not make it back to the NHL. Instead he has been playing in the minor pros.
