Jin se porte volontaire pour trouver un moyen de désamorcer les explosifs, ce qui l'empêche de monter à temps dans l'hélicoptère venu récupérer certains des survivants. Ainsi, il voit Sun partir sans lui, impuissante. Il réussit cependant à sauter dans l'eau peu avant l'explosion du navire. Il reste ensuite avec le groupe de l'Homme en noir, sous l'apparence de John Locke mais se fait capturer par l'équipe de Charles Widmore, qui le ramène sur l'île de l'Hydre.   • Jin-Soo Kwon (韩国名: 韩语: 권진수, 汉文: 權真秀)是815航班飞机中部生还者之一。Jin出生于1974年11月27号，在一个贫苦的渔夫家被抚养大，他常常因为自己父亲是渔夫而感到羞耻。为了与毕生挚爱Sun结婚，他被迫在其岳父的黑手党公司做事，也被迫接受骇人的任务，使Jin对自己具备的负面力量感到害怕。因为以上种种，在他和Sun结婚后期，他表现出很强的控制欲。Jin是所有幸存者中唯一不会说英语的人，由此造成了持续的沟通障碍，但是当Sun向大家表明她会说英语之后，Jin开始试着努力并且也确实学会断断续续说些只字片语了。
  • Urodził się w Namhae, małej wiosce rybackiej na południowym wybrzeżu Korei. Jego matką była prostytutka która porzuciła go po porodzie, zaś ojcem był rybak Kwon (nie jest jednak pewne, że to on był biologicznym ojcem Jina z uwagi na zawód jego matki). Rybak wychował Jina samotnie, mówiąc mu, że jego matka nie żyje. („D.O.C.”) Przez pewien czas Jin, jak każdy młody Koreańczyk, odbywał służbę wojskową. („D.O.C.”) Po skończeniu służby przeprowadza się do Seulu, gdzie mieszka u swojego przyjaciela Tai Soo. Pewnego dnia jego przyjaciel wyczytuje z horoskopu, że Jin wkrótce znajdzie miłość i będzie ona miała kolor pomarańczowy. Później znalazł pracę jako odźwierny w hotelu "Seoul Gateaway Hotel", pomimo, że właściciel hotelu, Mr. Kim żywił do niego niechęć. Pewnego razu wpuścił do hotelu biedaka, którego syn musiał skorzystać z toalety. Gdy właściciel gani go za to, Jin odchodzi z pracy. Pewnego dnia, idąc ulicą zauważył dziewczyną w pięknej, pomarańczowej sukience. Zagapił się i wpadł na swoją przyszłą żonę, Sun. („...And Found”) Po dłuższej znajomości Jin i Sun postanawiają się pobrać. Jin okłamuje Sun mówiąc, że oboje jego rodzice nie żyją. Gdy Koreańczyk pyta ojca narzeczonej, Paika o zgodę, ten stawia warunek: Jin podejmie pracę dla niego. Koreańczyk od razu się zgadza. Przed podróżą poślubną Jin musiał odbyć 6-miesięczny kurs zarządzania. Sun była wściekła na swojego ojca, lecz wtedy Jin podarował jej biały kwiat. („...In Translation”) Krótko po ślubie Matka Jina odnalazła Sun i zaczęła ją szantażować. Sun zdołała pożyczyć pieniądze od swojego ojca, lecz ostrzega, że Jin spłaci dług pracując dla niego. Następnego dnia Jin znajduje pieniądze w torebce żony. Ta okłamuje go, mówiąc, że to na nowe meble. Jin prosi żonę, aby oddała pieniądze ojcu, gdyż sam jest w stanie utrzymać rodziną. Sun zgadza się, i mówi Jinowi, że go kocha.   • Jin-Soo Kwon (koreanisch: Hangeul: 권진수, Hanja: 權真秀) ist einer der Überlebenden von Oceanic Flug 815. Er wurde am 27. November 1974 als Sohn eines Fischers geboren. Für seine Herkunft hatte er sich immer geschämt. Mit der Absicht Sun zu heiraten, wurde er gezwungen, für seinen Schwiegervater Mr. Paik zu arbeiten. Er verrichtete mafiaähnliche Geschäfte und erledigte die Drecksarbeit. Während dieser Zeit veränderte er sich stark, was auch der Grund dafür war, warum seine Frau Sun ihn verlassen wollte. Unmittelbar nach dem Absturz auf der Insel hatte Jin Probleme, sich mit den anderen zu verständigen, da er ausschließlich Koreanisch sprach. Im Laufe der Zeit jedoch offenbarte Sun ihre Fremdsprachenkenntnisse und Jin lernte, sich mit den anderen Überlebenden zu verständigen.
