  • Bongo – ziemski wojownik, najemnik służący pod rozkazami Króla Gurumesa. Monarcha powierzył mu misję poszukiwania smoczych kul. Bongo występuje w pierwszym filmie kinowym DB pt. Legenda o Shen Lóng'ie. Pracując wraz z Pastą przy poszukiwaniu smoczych kul, Bongo nadzoruje także wydobywanie rubinów na ziemiach należących do Gurumesa. To właśnie on i jego współpracownica wykradają należącą do Gokū Sì Xīng Qiú, zostawiając mu złotą monetę.

When Goku and his friends appear at the castle, Bongo ends up fighting Goku while riding a Flying Disc. Goku ends up destroying his flying disc and causes Bongo to fall into the castle, dragging Goku with him. The two end up bringing their fight into the Gurumes' throne room where Bongo is crushed by Gurumes, who has just mutated further into an obese horror with a virtually insatiable appetite. Bongo is last seen when Pasta picks him up after being squished flat.

The lowland bongo faces an ongoing population decline and the IUCN Antelope Specialist Group considers the western or lowland bongo, T. eurycerus eurycerus, to be Near Threatened on the conservation status scale. The eastern or mountain bongo, T. eurycerus isaaci, of Kenya has a coat even more vibrant than that of T. eurycerus eurycerus. The mountain bongo is only found in the wild in one remote region of central Kenya. The mountain bongo is classified by the IUCN Antelope Specialist Group as Critically Endangered with more specimens in captivity than in the wild. In 2000, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums in the USA (AZA) upgraded the bongo to a Species Survival Plan (SSP) Participant and in 2006 named the Bongo Restoration to Mount Kenya Project to its list of the Top Ten Wildlife Conservation Success Stories of the year. However, in 2013 it seems these successes have been negated with reports that there are possibly only 100 Eastern Mountain Bongs left in the wild due to logging & poaching.

  • Admiral Sir James "Bongo" Tranter was the Admiral of the Fleet who oversaw Project: Wildfire at the Mimas test base. When his top test pilot, Ace Rimmer, returned from a successful record-breaking flight, he headed for the admiral's office. After flirting with the admiral's secretary, Mellie, Ace reported for debriefing. The admiral was a middle aged man with uncontrollable hair and bushy eyebrows. He wore the uniform of a Space Corps Admiral, but spoke identically to the mechanoid Kryten. Ace and Bongo obviously knew each other well enough to be comfortable using their nicknames. Bongo joked that he suspected Ace would be back when he saw that the price of rubbers had gone up. Bongo gave Ace a briefing about the dimension-crossing ship built by his engineers. Ace volunteered immediately to go on a one-way mission into the multiverse, despite the dangers. Bongo then told Ace in an embarrassed tone that he would be in his quarters at lunchtime, covered in taramasalata. Ace was surprised, since Bongo had been happily married for 35 years, but Ace had turned his head. Ace politely declined and Bongo understood, declaring "What a guy". Bongo later stood beside Mellie, Spanners and the Padre to see Ace off in the dimension ship, Wildfire (RD: Dimension Jump). In the novel Backwards, the character's name is Peter Tranter and he is known as "Bungo", among several other nicknames. He is something of a drunk and less of a friend to Ace. He is still a good man and, due to a clerical error, is allowed to retire on full pay.

He lived in a deep part of the Amazon rain forest, and he was desperately longing to have some peaceful sleep with Shrinky (a teddy bear with a pinhead). However he was awakened by a group of monkeys and time traveling Smurfs. The monkeys had been problematic for him as they were too fast, until Bongo hid and attacked them. Now that the Smurfs came and were singing often, Bongo sought to quiet them as well. Bongo used his red berries to shrink the heads of the Smurfs, which made the Smurfs' voices higher and quieter, and also caused them to act very foolishly as they used less brainpower, in addition to their strange new appearance, such as Smurfette getting a big blonde bouffant after her head was shrunk. Luckily for both the Smurfs and the monkeys, Clumsy and Chimpy hatched a plan to get back at the mean head shrinker, namely in getting his own head shrunk with the help of a group of birds, who flapped their wings to send the red berries back to Bongo. In the end, Bongo, now much stupider (but nicer), gladly helped Clumsy reverse the problem for the shrunken heads by using some blueberries.
