  • The Warp Five Complex was a research and development facility built in 2119 near Bozeman, Montana on Earth. (ENT episodes: "Broken Bow", "Singularity") The loss of the SS Bonaventure years earlier was a factor in driving Zefram Cochrane to create the complex and push the limits of warp technology. (SCE eBook: Where Time Stands Still) Cochrane was present for the building's dedication, one of his last public appearances before disappearing later that same year. (ENT episode: "Broken Bow", TOS episode: "Metamorphosis")
  • The Warp Five Complex was a research facility dedicated to the development of a warp engine capable of reaching warp factor five, a speed which would grant Humanity the ability to explore deep space in a practical manner. Dedicated in 2119 as part of the Warp Five program, it was located just outside of Bozeman, Montana, the site where Zefram Cochrane made First Contact between Humans and Vulcans in 2063. Manned by scientists such as Cochrane, Tasaki, and Henry Archer, the work done at the Complex ultimately yielded the NX-class starship, Earth's first vessel capable of achieving warp five. (ENT: "Broken Bow", "Singularity")

(ENT: "Broken Bow", "Singularity") During the dedication ceremony for the Complex, Cochrane gave a speech in which he expressed his prediction that the warp five engine would allow Humanity to explore "strange, new worlds," and "go boldly where no man has gone before." Thirty-two years later, Starfleet admiral Maxwell Forrest played a recording of this speech at the reception being held to celebrate Enterprise's launch from spacedock. (ENT: "Broken Bow") On the day they broke ground on the Complex, Cochrane gave Archer a bottle of whiskey in celebration. This bottle would only be opened forty-two years later, where it was shared by Henry's son, Jonathan, captain of Enterprise NX-01, and Charles Tucker, his chief engineer. The facility was located outside Bozeman, Montana. Cochrane dedicated the facility in 2119, making what would come to be an historic speech: "On this site, a powerful engine will be built... an engine that will someday help us to travel a hundred times faster than we can today. Imagine it: thousands of inhabited planets at our fingertips. And we'll be able to explore those strange new worlds... and seek out new life and new civilizations. This engine will let us go boldly... where no man has gone before." The terminology and phrases Cochrane coined in this speech would be used in Starfleet for centuries to come. The speech would be revisited upon the launch of Enterprise, the first starship to benefit from the Warp Five engine. In 2161, it was made into a dedicated drydock.
