  • Sebastian Whateley owned the Cliff House restaurant in Dunwich, England. Among his indirect ancestors was Benedict Whateley, who'd been the bishop of Dunwich in the fourteenth century during the period when a series of storms sent most of the town into the North Sea. When Alistair went to Dunwich, he learned about the local Whateleys and had a meal at the Cliff House. He was somewhat unnerved to discover that there were Whateleys in England, as he'd come across the name on a trip to Dunwich, Massachussets prior to his England trip. The Massachusetts Whateleys had been responsible for the horror the town endured in the 1920s. After his meal, Alistair met with Sebastian Whateley. He was surprised to see that Sebastian had similar physical traits to the Massachusetts Whateleys: he had very pink skin, blond hair that was almost white, eyes of the palest blue, and a receding chin. Sebastian Whateley told Alistair how he could get to the beach by using the stairway behind the restaurant.
