Mair saw some limited ice time with the Flyers in 1970-71 an 1971-72, but his big break came when the New York Islanders claimed him in the 1972 NHL Expansion Draft. He played 49 games in 1972-73 with the Islanders, scoring 2 goals and 11 assists. The Vancouver Canucks claimd him on waivers that season and he saw only limited NHL action after that. He retired in 1975. His NHL totals were 76 games, 4 goals, and 15 assists. He scored 1 goal and 2 assists in 3 playoff games with the Flyers in 1970-71.
