Lebeau was chosen in the 8th round, 167th overall, in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. Despite being named the AHL's top rookie in 1990-91 he saw little action in the NHL. After playing for Canada in the 1992 Olympics he was traded to the Calgary Flames and in 1993 went to the Florida Panthers. Lebeau saw little NHL action with either team so he left for Europe in 1994. Lebeau played in a total of 15 NHL games, scoring 3 goals and 2 assists.
