| HistoryText | - Bruce Lorne Campbell is an American actor, producer, writer and director. He is best known for his starring role as Ashley J. Williams in the Evil Dead trilogy of horror/slapstick movies, and has since become a B-movie icon.
His acting style is an "over-the-top" machismo that lends itself well to roles such as that of Ash Williams, whom Campbell himself has dubbed "an idiot and a jerk like the rest of us". This style is parodied in the film The Majestic in which Campbell appears as Roland the Intrepid Explorer in the B movie Sand Pirates of the Sahara, written by Jim Carrey's screenwriter character.
In 2007, Campbell's fame and notoriety caught up with him. A young teenager from the mining town of Gold Lick named Jeff approached him, believing Campbell to be every bit the monster-fighter that his character Ash Williams appeared to be on film. He told Campbell of how he accidentally released a Chinese guardian demon named Guan-Di and desperately needed his help to send him back to Hell. Campbell mistakenly believed that the boy's inane story was actually a prank staged by his agent Mills Toddner, and as such, agreed to help Jeff in his plight. He came to Gold Lick with a shotgun in his hand and openly boasted about he was going to defeat Guan-Li. Campbell's attitude changed however when he discovered that Jeff was actually telling the truth. Guan-Di wanted revenge against all those who desecrated the cemetery near the old mine shafts. Though horrified by the visage before him, Campbell never lost his courage and valiantly kept Guan-Di at bay while Jeff and his mother devised a means of defeating him. Jeff's mother discovered that Guan-Di's secondary role was that of "Defender of Bean Curd". Collecting several cans of the stuff, she gave it to Campbell who used it to ward Guan-Di off, not unlike a vampire hunter using a crucifix to ward off attacking vampires. Bruce lured Guan-Di back to his original resting place and sealed him inside the mineshaft by replacing a protective pendant seal that Jeff had previously removed. Jeff and his mother were very thankful, but Bruce asked them to call on Buffy Summers the next time they decide to awaken an ancient demon.

Campbell would reprise his role in two sequels and in some video games. He has also expressed interest in returning for a fourth movie if Raimi were to make one. Throughout it all, Campbell himself became a favorite among horror fans, who welcome his appearances in movies or at conventions. Campbell, of course, is best known to Xenaverse fans for playing Autolycus and directing a number of episodes. His first involvement with the franchise was directing Hercules: The Legendary Journeys's first season episode, "The Vanishing Dead". The following season, he made his first appearance as Autolycus. In total, the King of Thieves would appear in twelve episodes of HTLJ and eight episodes of Xena: Warrior Princess. (He would also play a comedic version of Tapert in "Yes, Virginia, There is a Hercules" and "For Those of You Just Joining Us".) Throughout it all, he continued directing episodes of both series; his last being the HTLJ series finale, "Full Circle". Following the end of HTLJ, the one hour time-slot was filled with two new thirty minute series produced by Ren Pics under the Action Pack label: Jack of all Trades and Cleopatra 2525. Jack of all Trades was created for Campbell, who starred as Jack Stiles and the Daring Dragoon. The series, however, proved short-lived – lasting twenty-two episodes. Throughout it all, Campbell continued a healthy film career. He went on to have cameos in all of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films. In 2005, he starred alongside Renee O'Connor in the Sci-Fi Channel movie, Alien Apocalypse, which garnered strong ratings upon its debut. Fu ritrovato dopo doversi mesi, e curato con la medicina alternativa direttamente da Steven Seagal, che finì per far impazzire completamente Bruce. Appena Bruce mise piede in una città civile, fu immediatamente catturato, percosso e infine rinchiuso per 18 anni in un manicomio di massima sicurezza, nell'area 51, in provincia di Napoli, dove ha conosciuto Sam Raimi, che già da tempo meditava di fare un film terrificante. Sam, dopo aver ascoltato la vicenda vissuta da Bruce, ha deciso immediatamente di girare la trilogia, dando però al personaggio il nome fittizio di Ash. Avrete sicuramente notato come nel primo "La casa" si parli di un uomo normale che poi diventa folle... e di come ne "La casa 2" sia talmente pazzo da diventare MOLTO pericoloso, persino per le forze del male... l'evoluzione prosegue fino a diventare pericolosissimo nell'"Armata delle Tenebre", dove la sua follia ormai tramutata in megalomania e delirio di onnipotenza, sfocia nel bisogno di uccidere... Non ci sarebbe nulla di strano, se non fosse che si tratta della vera vita di Bruce. Lui si è davvero innestato una motosega McGulloc da legname pesante a posto della mano destra, che usa tranquillamente per le normali faccende. Purtroppo a causa di questa idea si è tagliato diverse parti del corpo, tra cui il pene, che ha subito sostituito con un fucile a pompa. Il problema maggiore è quando tenta di accarezzare le sue ragazze, che rimangono istantaneamente mutilate. Tuttavia Bruce non si è pentito di essersi tagliato la mano da solo, e pubblicamente ha dichiarato "lo rifarei anche subito, ma al posto della motosega mi piacerebbe mettere una spada laser". Inutile dire che la sua vita è disseminata dei cadaveri di tutti quelli che tocca o a cui stringe la mano. Però è anche vero che grazie a questa furbissima idea di sostituire la sua mano con una motosega McGulloch gli ha permesso di passare tutti gli esami e si è laureato in molteplici discipline. A quanto pare i professori evitavano di bocciarlo. Le malelingue dicono che questo non avveniva per via dell'eccellente preparazione di Bruce, ma solo perché si presentava agli esami con un fucile a cannamozza dietro la schiena e una motosega a posto della mano, che tra l'altro tiene sempre accesa.
